The national accounts per capita measure that matters for living standards, real net national disposable income, has been on a strong upward trend this century. It’s fallen over the past couple of years, but it’s the trend that counts.

Reece Kershaw for @AusFedPolice accepted this morning that together with @VictoriaPolice & ASIO, they were responsible for appalling decision to prosecute a 13 y/o boy with Autism, having previously used Covert Operatives to coerce him into the alleged ‘terror offending’. 1/2

The AFP essentially radicalised a 13 year old Autistic boy after his parents came to police seeking help and there have been no consequences for any of the officers or senior police involved. That's disgraceful!

This is great news. The Northern Beaches has some of the most over-priced and under-supplied housing in Australia. The average apartment on the Northern Beaches sells for $1.4 million, but only costs $700k to supply. The council-induced shortage doubles the cost! 1/4

A major announcement from the NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DPE) could see an explosion of medium and higher density residential development on the Northern Beaches. northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au/council/news/r…

A piece so damn good I wish I’d written it. @ChrisEconomist absolutely nails it here. The perfect encapsulation of the economics of Australia’s (and many other countries’) housing crisis. What is and isn’t responsible for it. Scream it from the rooftops. smh.com.au/national/negat…

We have had waves of technological change that restructured the entire economy before. In 1890, 1 out of every 12 men in America was employed in railways, which used 56% of all horsepower across all machines. And as @calebwatney pointed out, nails alone were .5% of the 1810 GDP!
