As someone who had a rocky #PhD application experience and was successfully matched to her top #APPIC internship, here is the advice I would give to the younger me who just applied to #clinicalpsychology #PhDprograms 🧵

While we are on the discourse of you don’t *need* 8 pubs for clinical PhD program, you also don’t *need* to be majority presenting and all programs aspire to have a diverse student body. But do take a look at the student body composition of clinical psych PhD programs.

It seems like people are sharing their academic rejection stories and my list is loooong! Rejected from 25 clinical psych PhD programs across three application cycles, waitlisted at 2, and accepted at 1. It's okay if your application experience looks something like this.

📢 Super excited to recruit adults who engage in self-injury for my thesis! It's a paid, virtual study and more information, along with the screening survey, is in the attached flyer. Please share with those who may be interested!

Colleagues, we can and must do better. What follows is a thread and my open letter to Dr. Rohling, the INS Board, and the #neurospych community re the use of the “N-word” and lack of its immediate public denunciation #INS2024inNYC.

don’t go into debt, don’t accept that fake offer, don’t even apply. Going to an unfunded unsupported PhD was the worst decision of my adult life. It’s 100% a scam and ended my academic career. happened to me at ucla school of public health. Know your worth fam

Annual advice to PhD applicants: Do not go into debt for a PhD. It doesn't matter how perfectly the program fits, how amazing the faculty are, how passionate you feel. Unless you're independently wealthy, you don't go without full funding. This is a hill I will die on.
