After 6.5 years, the last day of 2023 was also my last day with @Blizzard_Ent I will greatly miss all the wonderful people I met there, from Tespa to Hearthstone to Overwatch! Definitely ready to take a new path in 2024 :))
Very excited to be back in Hawaii for Pokemon Worlds for the first time in 12 years. For once, as a spectator. All I want to do this weekend is catch up with as many people as possible, and maybe buy some cards. Life is good :))
Elo and winrate don't matter in Pokemon at all, but I played for like 15 minutes in 2024 and these small-scale results make me want to try converting them to CP in 2025.....
Pokemon has grown their game massively in the last 12 years since regionals structure changed. % wise, they've grown attendance more in a shorter time than any card game in history. They have vastly more data to make decisions with than any of you armchair TOs. Trust
The portal to NAIC asked for login with RainFocus - my prediction: this is the beginning of the end for RK9. Back when my family ran regs I guessed that Regional operators would consolidate until 1 or 0 organizers are left - 3 remain. The trend looks dark for third parties.
Won another league challenge with Charizard. No Tina in New England right now, so I ditched the the Rad Zard cards for better Moon, Gardy, and Bax matchups. Rad is good against Moon too, but I feel like Catcher after they take a 1 prize KO makes or breaks the whole matchup.
The draw 13 pick 7 Pokemon discourse is absurd to me, you're suggesting we play a completely different game at that point. Changes to pregame procedure would be great, but not ones so drastic that change how decks (and cards) need to be designed. Just do prize check after setup.
Finished 40th in Charolette. 2x Devo for Zard, but only hit 1 Zard (and 2 Snorlax) Came close, but needed better matchups to get there. Sad to be in the top 2% of players in the room and walk away with basically nothing. But regardless, the finish was good!
31 out of 2133 after day 1 of the biggest Pokémon regional of all time! Not super happy with how I played, luck bailed me out more than once. Overall pretty happy with Charizard!
I will especially miss leading the Hearthstone Collegiate program. Undoubtedly, these were the projects where my work touched the most lives in the most meaningful ways. I am eternally grateful to the students who participated time and time again, from Varsity to Battlegrounds.
Registration for Overwatch Collegiate Homecoming is now LIVE! Need the scoop? Check out our blog! 📣overwatchleague.com/en-us/news/reg…
40/1313 in Hartford Regionals! Goal was day 2 and we got there after starting 2-1-2. :))
Registered for my first big tournament since 2014! :)
"Pokémon being pay to win is unacceptable!" said Twitter, aghast at a promo card becoming expensive in a luxury hobby where it costs $70 to enter events and you're at a competitive disadvantage if you aren't able to fly to the UK, Australia, and Latin America to compete
Organizers try to do their best with the funding they're given. Nobody accepts an esports job if they don't care deeply about their community. But they rarely get to make the budgeting decisions.
People who harass employees online should be rounded up and sent to fight in the trenches of a PR crisis they had nothing to do with. Builds character.
I'm thrilled to be running Hearthstone Collegiate Masters for another season, with over 14k in cash prizing! College Hearthstone players from NA can sign up for fall semester's tournament here: bit.ly/HCMfa22
We're excited to share with you updates for upcoming Path To Pro tournaments! Looking forward to OW2 launch! 🙌🎉 blizz.ly/P2PQ4Update
Hearthstone friends, I know someone looking for medium-experienced casters for an event on June 26 during APAC hours. They're paying $600 for 2-3 hours of casting. HMU if interested or know someone interested!
