Neglect of medical interns is a clear indication of misplaced priorities bit.ly/47livWY #MonitorUpdates
87 percent of the population who live in the rural areas and the close to 20 percent of the population that live below the poverty line cannot easily access qualified medical personnel and quality medical care. bit.ly/4gi0UDl?utm_me… #MonitorUpdates
This situation raises serious questions about the govt’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens. If past govts with far fewer resources, could prioritize the deployment and support of medical interns, why is the current administration falling short?! @MinofHealthUG
From this article, it’s clear that persons outside the medical field understand the depth of the situation at hand, but how come @GovUganda can’t seem to address this with the urgency it deserves?! @HerbertLuswata @MirembeDr @FrancisOmaswa @Thomas_Tayebwa @cehurduganda @SpireJim
“The neglect of medical interns is a clear indication of misplaced priorities. While the gov’t celebrates its achievements & projects a vision of progress, it is failing to address the fundamental needs of the health sector.” #DeployAllMedicalInterns search.app/oaN7qVKe4egN6p…

All this coupled with delayed deployment of medical interns so to strengthen the system & suggestions that some should privately sponsor themselves. In the long run, we are going to see even worse situations than this. However, we do condole with the family and MHSRIP
Such engagements should have involved intern leaders.... The representation of their views is key on such matters...matters that directly affect them...

Congz Dr. @HerbertLuswata upon this milestone. We’re hoping against hope that the presentation to the Secretary to the Cabinet & proposed series of meetings to come really address the current problem at hand, the un-deployed medical interns and not reforms for the future only.
U.M.A @TheUMAofficial has taken a significant step towards reforming medical internship. We have submitted proposals to the Secretary to the Cabinet, which will be presented to the President of Uganda. we are engaging in a series of meetings with MoH to homonise our position.

@TheUMAofficial has taken a stand on the medical interns’ plight together with @cehurduganda . We can’t sit back & watch the profession die hence call on @unmu_uganda @PharmacistsUg to join in and equally take action. #DeployAllMedicalInterns
Uganda faces major challenges due to a shortage of healthcare workers! How is it possible yet we have medical interns that are forced to hold demonstrations, pleading with @GovUganda to get deployed, year in year out! @MinofHealthUG @cehurduganda @WHO sites.brown.edu/publichealthjo…
Dear govt @GovUganda @GCICUganda @AfricaFactsZone the time is now to send doctors and they treat the common people. Not doing so is typically sending the common people to die since they can't afford to fly abroad or private services at in Ug. Thank you @cehurduganda
Today, 30th August 2024, the Center for Health, Human rights and Development has filed a case at the Civil Division of the High Court of Uganda against government and the Director General Health Services at the Ministry of Health over the non deployment of graduate medical…
The action taken @cehurduganda to safeguard the medical profession is highly welcome and it’s been overdue. We encourage like-minded ORGs and donor agencies @WHO @USAID supporting the healthsector in UG to come on board and challenge the current action being taken by @GovUganda
Well said @DailyMonitor The current stipends provided barely cover the interns' day-to-day expenses and can’t be considered true compensation for their invaluable work. It’s very absurd to even have a debate on this! @MinofHealthUG #DeployAllMedicalInterns
Today, the pre-medical interns who were denied deployment by government have filed a case against the Attorney general and DGHS @MinofHealthUG in Kampala high court to challenge the decision against which these qualifying medical graduates were excluded. There is indeed no doubt…
