One of the great things about music ed. is that, with the right encouragement & mindset, each incremental step on the way to musical achievement can be awesome & can then inspire one to take the next step. This is true in all facets of life, of course, but so tangible with music

In a day & age where young people can skip ahead in so many things, they need music more than ever. There’s no app for it; it doesn’t just happen; you have to work hard; learn to fail; learn to problem solve; & learn to persist. What’s the reward - beauty, accomplishment, & joy.

“If every school was allowed to remove 10 – 20% of their lowest achieving pupils we would all be able to tell the papers what record results we had achieved this year.” One of the great school improvement hoaxes of our time. leadinglearner.me/2018/12/16/the… by @LeadingLearner

Along with all the other targets I set myself for the new year... more chance of this succeeding than getting that ripped torso!

Gradeless assessing - maybe that way my students will be more focused on completing the task to the best of their ability rather than worrying about the eventual grade...
