Happy #FossilFriday! Annual meeting of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology is a wrap! Held in #Minneapolis this year, we showed up big time from the @sciencemuseummn with 13 presentations including lots from right here in #Minnesota! Plus we hosted the MEGA Welcome Reception!

Tomorrow from 3-5pm, Paleontologists from @sciencemuseummn will have specimens from their collections vault, including actual dinosaur bones that can be touched! Iron Raptor Beer will be unleashed. This Wild Rice Lager is inspired by the only carnivorous dino fossil found in MN

Happy #FossilFriday and Happy #Croctober! Meet the extinct crocodilian #Alligator prenasalis! This 35 million yr old #gator from #SouthDakota is an adult at just over 3 ft long, at @sciencemuseummn The oldest known Alligator, from which descended the big gators we have today!

Happy #FossilFriday! We often have to ID #fossil #bones at @sciencemuseummn This ulna came from a #cave in southeastern #Minnesota that gets ‘wash in’ from the surface. Here it is next to a Gray Squirrel, 13 Lined Ground Squirrel & (the winner) a Pocket Gopher!

Happy #FossilFriday! Was recently in northern #Minnesota (reppin’ @sciencemuseummn) to help jacket a block of rock with #fossil tree roots from 95 million years ago. Also found plenty of shark teeth 🦈 and other fun #fossils. Glad to be a part of the project thru @MNDiscoveryCtr!

Happy #FossilFriday! This week @Jangojips (volunteer at @sciencemuseummn) came by to make a 3D model of this lovely Champsosaurus model (extinct & weird reptile). We’ll use that to 3D print a base for outreach & #education. Stay tuned to see the next phase of the project!

Happy #FossilFriday! Recently back out #fossil collecting in south-central #Minnesota, thru @sciencemuseummn (under DNR permit). 1st pic looks like #Bison tooth 🦬, looking old enough to collect, but the #beaver femur (2nd pic) looked pretty recent. Beautiful day on the river!
