Next time a colleague tells you of problems at work, take a risk and ask "What can I do to help?"

Just finished a bit of holiday reading from @ErinMeyerINSEAD Really interesting regarding geographical cultural differences but hard not to see medical specialty cultures refracted through a similar lens. Paragraph from final chapter probably most important…

I can’t be the only person out there waiting for Bryson to thin one of these attempts, can I??

I want a Dr Who episode based around the towel creatures that hotels leave in your room when you’re not looking.

…and here’s the really uncomfortable thing, we’re ALL leaders in some way.

As a leader, you don’t have a choice in being a role model. The choice is how much energy you invest in being a good one. Being a good leader will always be "energy expensive." The challenge lies not in skills or knowledge, but in the sustained effort it demands.

I mean, he’s trolling us now… surely!!!

Out of Office on. Back in December.

The speech the Democratic Party leadership needs to hear before we try to pander to the right again:

Seems apt that these two are on the board today…

Remember, just because Trump won, doesn’t mean he isn’t a fascist or a racist or a misogynist, it just means more people were still prepared to vote for him than the other person. Understanding WHY that happened is how we move forward. He won for a reason. WTF2WTF applies.

Well, on the plus side… nope, I got nothing.

To brighten up budget day, I am giving a set of these Fabulous Mr Benn badges away. To be in the bowler hat, all you have to do is retweet this tweet. I'll choose a winner this time next week. Good Luck!!

Wondering what the final few years of a medical career will look like. Is this the time to set up as one of those doctors John Wick etc go to for bullet removal at 3am?? The pay seems good but the risk seems quite high as patients look to ‘cover their tracks’.

My day so far… 1) Office bin removed for good to save money 😳 2) Students triple booked for my simulation session so left early. 😕 3) New leave software registration not working.🙄 Time for an early lunch.

It’s only quarter to nine and I’m already two M&S lemon danishes and half a can of Red Bull deep in the day.

Honestly, it’s like time travel. Sat in a meeting discussing the same issues around care in the ED. Too much work, not enough staff, no additional funding, must maintain quality.

So, the printer running out ink with nine pages of my sermon left to print isn’t ideal!!
