No disrespect for #LaVuelta24, but why is there TV coverage of a Peloton cruising slowly on a lovely sunday ride, while we still have to wait another 30 minutes for #TDFF2024? The Queen's stage, Alpe d'Huez, Col du Glandon, SD Worx sending 4 riders into the attack. So annoying.

106 questions in the #NPPF consultation! 🫣 No changes to the heritage chapter, language on 'beauty' dropped, but relevant questions on LPA fees for heritage consents & services. #CIfAadvocacy @InstituteArch

Roll to the Polls! 🚴‍♀️ Are you cycling to the polling stations this year? Use #BikesAtPollingStations and tag us in your photos on social media. You might just pedal others to bike to the ballot too!

Great to see 'protecting local authority #archaeology and #heritage departments & services' in @LibDems 'The Power of Creativity' plan for #culture. Great to see recognition from the party on this. +Fab work by @Heritage_NGOs advising & making this happen! libdems.org.uk/creativity

We are inherently credulous creatures. If get told by my 'smart' watch that I had a crap nights sleep - I may feel more tired, even if I know the data is wildly inaccurate.

I tried to summarise it and some other work here. Understandably voters do not have a great grasp of the Margin of Error inherent in polling and can confuse that with momentum. Parties can appear to have the Big Mo, even when it is really just MoE. politicshome.com/thehouse/artic…

Tory Manifesto says: "The Conservative Party will always protect our national heritage". The paragraph continues with some Culture War nonsense, so skip that bit! In the unexpected event that we welcome back a Conservative Govt, it'll be a smooth path to all the sector's asks 🫢

Was lovely to see so many people out to celebrate Dave Myers’ life today. Every motorway bridge was packed with people & there were 000s of bikes. This is the power of being a nice bloke, & it’s all I need to see for the UK right now. #daveday #davemyers #daveride

CIfA contingent working hard eating cake in the sun at Buckingham Palace, yesterday. But lovely to see archaeology & heritage well represented, rubbing shoulders with wider DCMS sectors.

It was great to see a wide range of @Heritage_NGOs members, funders & friends - recognising that heritage is an integral part of the creative economy & our nation’s cultural offer. In shot @InstituteArch @CharterhouseEC1 @FemConstruct of @PortsmouthHQ @nationaltrust @TORCHOxford

Baby’s first Heritage Council meeting today. Exciting opportunity to talk at Ministerial level about maritime and rail heritage. Both evocative elements of UK heritage that have shaped landscape & culture - indeed changed the world - but need attention. #CIfAadvocacy

CIfA is joining @Dcms Heritage Council today to support ratification of the UNESCO 2001 underwater heritage convention & help carry momentum beyond a general election to further strengthening cross-Government policy on UCH & improvements to the protection of wrecks. #CIfAadvocacy

More gutted than I should be to lose around 18 months of Wordle stats today… It’s just randomly set me back to mid-2020 when I’d only played 150 games. (Screenshot today vs 16 Jan). #wordle #wordlestats

Culture war nonsense: parliamentlive.tv/event/index/3e…… Academics research Medieval multiculturalism > Make tentative conclusions > Media spins ignorant summary to earn clicks > Tories read ignorant summary & make even more ignorant statements to stoke the worst elements of their base.

Switching on to Commons equalities questions just before PMQs I think I just heard Kemi Badenoch answering a question about "woke archaeology". It is equally possible that this actually happened, or that I imagined it.

No ‘Premiere selfie’ & no sparkling wine, sadly, because I’m sick. But delighted to be watching this wonderful film celebrating 50 years of the Protection of Wrecks Act. #PWA50 @HistoricEngland @MSDSMarine Looking forward to @NautArchSoc conference (from bed) this weekend!

Good news for the e-bike industry & couch potatoes: E-bikes are more carbon efficient than walking, apparently. Because exercise is a carbon cost. #facepalm #badscience

Impressive good grace from @CotswoldLadyB A couple of centimetres from death. Well done for getting back on the bike after that!

Thank you all so much for your kind comments and support re #cyclegate. No one was hurt and we’re all wiser for it. Now my heart has returned to normal, I’ve had a moment to look at a close up of the near miss from yesterday. I can’t help but notice the slogan on the side of…
