Oh wow, this is a terrible take. 🤦🏽‍♂️ 🤦🏽‍♂️. 1. Majority (~60%) of GPs in the UK are Female. 2. Who is stopping PAs from applying to medical school? Most of us are actively encouraging it. 3. Let’s just conveniently ignore all of the evidence to date of unsafe practice of PAs in…

Only a 100 years ago, doctors didn’t allow women in medical school as they believed women would faint and it would be harmful for patients. For all the allied health professionals out there, I apologise for the arrogance coming from the medical profession tonight. Sleep well all

Please stop what you’re doing and read this 🔸PA employed using funding for SAS doc 🔸PA admitting she knew nothing prior to starting 🔸Spends 50% of time in theatre and the rest ‘assessing’ new patients 🔸After 8 weeks learning she’s ready to train others and manage patients

It seems incredible to me that a consultant doctor was happy & willing to put all of this on the record… Genuinely, what is the point of a medical degree & postgrad medical training if you can do all of this in far less time without it & be paid more?

We knew there was a risk @wesstreeting’s words were empty. He knows that Physician Associates are HIGH risk for patients, because that’s the government’s own analysis. But Wes thinks he can duck this scandal, and get away with it. RT to show him he can’t. #AskForADoctor

This will completely destroy #GeneralPractice! GPs need to be the surgery not floating Remember a few months ago Dr Doyle said, GPs are not Additional? We need to close down #ARRS funding & move it to the core. It is poor value to patients & to tax payers @wesstreeting

Great that resident doctor pay negotiations have started. But with the current proposal: Doctor starting salary: £36,000 PA starting salary: £46,000 NO doctor should be paid less than their assistant! It makes no sense whatsoever & is an insult.

We are clear: PA students do not study medicine, PAs are not medically trained, PAs are not medical professionals. We have approached the GMC to clarify its position.

We have an answer from the GMC According to them, PAs study medicine, just not the same as a doctor who studies it for 5 years. Whats different? The time and the content.

How many times do NHS doctors need to speak out about the ways in which we’re quietly being replaced by non-doctors, with neither the knowledge nor consent of the UK public? It’s a patient safety scandal - happening now, driven by @DHSCgovuk, aided & abetted by @gmcuk

you are still going on about this? People make errors Lesser trained people make more errors People working illegally without training definitely make more errors All of the three are correct

Rob makes such a key point here. Why are @DHSCgovuk @NHSEngland & @gmcuk so aggressively promoting the rise of doctor substitutes (PAs) in primary care, when there are 1000s of SAS doctors who might be only too keen to work in general practice, yet are banned from doing so?

Only F2s, GP regs and GPs can work in primary care. There are folks who aren't any of the above, who might love to work in primary care. There aren't enough doctors in primary care. SAS doctors in secondary care aren't a threat to consultants or folks in training. Go figure.

Happy to announce that I’ll be starting my new chapter as a doctor in GP Training in London this August. With many issues going on about the NHS lately, I am still excited to see how this journey will unfold for me 🙌
