WWF’s Living Planet Report shows a catastrophic loss of wildlife populations. As @DrRebeccaShaw explains in today’s edition of Nature Breaking, the loss is connected to the "decline of nature and the increasing instability of the Earth's climate." Watch here:…
New in @TIME, WWF's @DrRebeccaShaw writes about the catastrophic loss of wildlife revealed in the Living Planet Report. "The decisions we make in the next five years will determine if we can reverse these trends or watch them spiral out of control." time.com/7081195/saving…
Breaking news: The 2024 #LivingPlanetReport shows a 73% decline in the average size of monitored wildlife populations over just 50 years. We have the solutions. We know what to do. We just need to act. Get informed: wwf.to/3CUh8kg.
WWF is pleased to announce the Fonseca Leadership Program in honor of the late Dr. Gustavo Fonseca. This competitive program, supported by @theGEF, aims to scale conservation leadership in Latin America by providing support to researchers and practitioners. Apply by May 15, 2024.…

This small change in your diet can significantly reduce your impact on the climate. WWF's @stephanieroe talks with Bloomberg News @climate reporter @Zhirji28 about how the food you consume affects the environment. Learn more: bloomberg.com/news/features/…
New research shows that only 18% of global land area needed for human well-being and biodiversity is protected. Learn how we can balance nature and development in @World_Wildlife scientist @beckyck 's latest publication in @NatureComms: nature.com/articles/s4146…
We must not accept another 5 y of inaction and limited progress on dietary shifts. The stakes are too high. With both the health of our children and the planet on the line, it is time to put healthy and sustainable diets on the table. Read more 👇 authors.elsevier.com/a/1iNHrgSEMrvp
It's wonderful to look back on the year and see all of the exciting things that happened. I hope everyone can take a moment to reflect. Here are a few highlights from WWF. worldwildlife.org/stories/conser…
For the 50th anniversary of the Endangered Species Act, @davethau, Tanya Berger-Wolf, and co-authors argue technology is a partner for conservation, not simply a tool or a silver bullet. We should partner thoughtfully, consider the risks, and use our resources wisely.
How is AI being used in conservation? A new commentary in @ScienceMagazine co-authored by @World_Wildlife's @davethau highlights real-world examples of this technology being used in cutting-edge conservation work. Read about the benefits and risks here: science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Fascinating results from this study. Inequalities exist in food systems across all countries, meaning that each country has different work to do at the national level to provide access to sustainable and healthy foods. Make sure to give it a read.

On the #COP28 text itself: ✅3X renewable energy capacity globally by 2030 ✅2X the global average annual rate of energy efficiency improvements by 2030 ❌Accelerating & substantially reducing [...] methane emissions by 2030 (does not say by how much) 2/8
Onward to implementation! The agreement to transition away from fossil fuels at #COP28 is historic. While it doesn't contain everything we need, this is the beginning of the end for the fossil fuel era. It's time to build a nature-positive energy transformation.
A new report by @WWF and @BCG compares a rapid transition to renewable energy to our current approach dominated by fossil fuels across key areas. The results clearly show that a renewable future is better for humans and nature. #Cop28 Read more: worldwildlife.org/stories/we-nee…
It didn't look great for a while, but a positive GST was approved in the end at #COP28 Although we didn't get everything we wanted on food systems, it's included in a major UNFCCC outcome for the 1st time. There are enough elements for us to be optimistic - now to implement!
To those who opposed a clear reference to phase out of fossil fuels during the #COP28 Climate Conference, I want to say: Whether you like it or not, fossil fuel phase out is inevitable. Let’s hope it doesn’t come too late.
#COP28 is over… and after 3 decades of @UN climate negotiations, countries have at last shifted the focus to the polluting fossil fuels and have agreed to transition away from them. However they've fallen short of consensus on the full phase out of coal, oil and gas. This…
We’re racing towards the finish line at #COP28. Countries and negotiators must commit to a rapid energy transformation that puts renewable energy first. #climatecrisis
