Very happy to announce that Cronyism is on Amazon!! If you want to learn about the history of corruption and the libertarians who tried to reform the system, this book is for you! And it’s only $16 (yes, even in this highly inflationary environment)!! amazon.com/gp/product/161…

Jacksonians (1829-49) used this strategy to reduce cronyism in govt. Since the legislature was beholden to special interests, Jackson et al vetoed, recess appointed, fired bureaucrats, etc. to implement their policies. Historically, it’s the only strategy that’s shrunk govt.

I’ve certainly got a mountain of archival evidence! Still want to write a full length biography of Rothbard I recently wrote a book chapter on Rothbardian Political Economy—what he called the Science of Liberty. I hope to upload it to SSRN sometime soon.

Friday night and my wife and I are reading the 17th and 18th editions of the Chicago Manual of Style LFG.

Can’t wait for Cronyism 2 to come out— early next year!

On the latest #RothPod, @RyanMcMaken, @ThoBishop, and @DrPatrickNewman discuss the importance of historical revisionism in the battle against statism, and the dynamics that led to American politics being captured by special interests. youtu.be/ipbtfeFs5eE

Very excited and honored that @Mises is publishing Cronyism: Rise of the Corporatist State, 1849-1929. If you are interested in the history of the big government-big business alliance, this book is for you! mises.org/mises-wire/hel…

History, at its best, challenges the preferred narratives of power. @DrPatrickNewman, following the tradition of Rothbard, does just that. Could you help us publish it for the masses with a donation today? mises.org/mises-wire/hel…

I am really looking forward to learning more about this time period: Reconstruction to Great War, in your next book! @DrPatrickNewman

Start at around 1:09:00. What @MikeBenzCyber points out is not a new problem with the big government/big business alliance. See this book by @DrPatrickNewman (and his next one, forthcoming).

The long, glorious ☠️ history of cronyism in America, by @DrPatrickNewman . There's no book more timely, in late 2024. mises.org/search?query=c…

Millennials’ real net worth is relatively better than Gen Z and Boomers (bc of real estate). Genuine question—do these studies control for the # of children? Millennials start families later with less children comparatively, so we would expect them to have relatively more wealth.

Mises University is one of my favorite weeks of the year. Tons of great faculty and learned students, all coming together because of their interest in Austrian economics—what’s not to like? @mises

Final lecture of @mises university—on my forthcoming book, Cronyism: Rise of the Corporatist State, 1849-1929. I discuss the sordid factors behind the transcontinental railroads youtu.be/UNMYqldEo20?si…

This is known as the inflation tax—when the Federal Reserve prints money, it benefits the early receivers of the money (Wall Street) at the expense of the late receivers (the middle class).

Third lecture @mises university—crash course on ABCT. Complete with structure of production animations! Why do booms last so long? Because the central bank keeps pumping in credit. youtu.be/DxcDBFSETDQ?si…

My second talk @mises university—on why government spending introduces calculation chaos and why socialism is impossible for modern economies. A great crash on the necessity of monetary prices for estimating opportunity costs. youtu.be/fsopSghOBpo?si…

My first talk at Mises University—on banking. If you want to learn about the Adverse Clearing Mechanism (who doesn’t??), this talk is for you! youtu.be/UbKtocPkMqg?si…
