Safwat's (@SingleCellSaf) PhD work on defining a transcriptomic signature for pancreatic endothelial cells is here! He identified pancreas-specific biologically relevant genes that were then validated in silico in an independent dataset and in situ using RNAscope or IF 1/

Whoa. Manuscript sent to @ScienceDirect's International Journal of Hydrogen Energy gets desk-rejected because it did not have enough citations from its own journal. That is one way to get an impact factor of 7.

This is terrible behaviour, but it can be fixed. Just email COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and Clarivate (the company that assigns impact factors). Another journal lost its impact factor for several years (I think 3) for this offence.

We have an exciting #computational paper out in @CellRepMethods Ever use a #tSNE or #UMAP in #scSeq, #flowcytometry or #masscytometry? It doesn't have to be just a pretty picture anymore - we've developed a statistical test to check for differences. 1/6 cell.com/cell-reports-m…

Perfusing organoids and engineered tissues has been a major challenge in tissue engineering. We solve this using a new approach we call 3D soft microfluidics. Check out our synthetic vascularization approach, enabled by free form 3D microfluidics: nature.com/articles/s4146…

Our paper is out! nature.com/articles/s4146… With genetic Ca2+ clamping and chemogenetic activation of astrocytes, we show that astrocytes enhance neurovascular coupling when neuronal activation is sustained but not when activation is brief.

So... This might be it 😢 Has anyone started a science server on Mastodon yet? Will be hard to find you all again without it...

For anyone doing #flowcytometry, would you like to have a new protocol that reduces your #antibody costs by ~10-fold and also gives you higher quality data, with better signal-to-noise ratio? Yes? Then read work by @olivertburton and @CarlyEWhyte 1/6 …rentprotocols.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.10…

There's been lots of talk on moving #ScienceTwitter to another platform As scientists, we should make informed decisions & not accept status quo - so what are the options? I checked out open-source non-profit @joinmastodon How it works, why it's great & how to get started!🧵
