I had to literally argue for the study leave to be able to attend this conference and present a poster recently in May. I wasn’t expecting to win an award for it! What an honour, thank you @GeriSoc for supporting a budding future geriatrician!
Another wonderful initiative from @Bristol_Beacon, increasing accessibility to top class live music and all the joy that brings. All I can say is, MORE PLEASE 🙏 bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

This is the culmination of lots of work from many specialists including our very own @GeriSoc Common sense has prevailed- it’s ok so do what your patient wants. Nice guidance doesn’t trump the patient, ever!! So proud of this
Improving quality of later life sometimes means less medical intervention not more. This should be the patient's informed decision. Older people and their families need to have realistic conversations with their doctors including about levels of intervention they want. (5/5)
The @sas_collective account is gaining followers at a pace. It would be a source of pride if we could get to 750 before the end of my day curating the account.
Wow. This is a huge step change in medical / cardiology training! So attractive compared to national training numbers. Trainees won't be forced to move every few months. With integrated academic training. And "no more than 50 clinics/year". jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/joba…
Brilliant A clear exposition that those of us who step outside the standard pathways can still excel. A reminder to young doctors of choice and variety. I celebrate the Specialist Doctors and the Trusts who validate them. It allows for career choice, staff retention and self care
I wrote a blog for @NHSEmployers This one is very personal, and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks again to @michelle_pooley for asking me to write it, and for helping me get the language right in some places. nhsemployers.org/articles/becom…
This is about listening to what older people actually want. It’s very enlightening and very important. 👏👏❤️❤️😊😊

I discussed this with my good friend & colleague & it makes so much sense that I’m sharing it: Medical school applications are designed to favour high achievers, type A personality types, people with perfectionist traits, high standards. Then it trains these individuals
As we head into winter, with hospitals already in crisis, one of the kindest things we can all do is to identify our patients who might benefit from advance care planning. 🧵 incoming… 1/n
12 hour shift on 🚑 today. 2 calls have been EoL. But no provision has been put in place. So 2 elderly patients have had to be taken from their bed and transported to 🏥 because no1 has been willing to talk about End of Life care. Please. Have the talk. It makes it easier.
