Exactly one year until I start my FY2 GP rotation and I am already looking forward to it. General surgery is interesting and I'm glad I've been on it, but I couldn't do it long term.

One upside of being on nights you is you get to message your friends in Australia in real time

Just found out about the 'blue light card' which gives discounts for NHS and other key workers! bluelightcard.co.uk/index.php

Turns out giving IV furosemide to someone in acute pulmonary oedema can be incredibly rewarding. By the time I'd finished discussing with the ICU reg because I was so concerned about patient's work of breathing, they were breathing fine and talking happily away!

Most trains from London to Didcot go via one stop and take 37 minutes. Occasionally there are trains which take 75 minutes and stop at 20 stations. No prizes for guessing which one I booked.

Final night shift before (almost) a week off - here we go

First night looking after patients who've either had or are going to have emergency surgery - expected plenty of surgical problems but the last thing I expected was to be managing a possible psychosis, a DKA and a hyperkalemia!

It was my last day on the transplant ward today. As first jobs go it's been a great one - well supported, rewarding and interesting. Still mildly dressing surgical emergency unit tomorrow but far less than I was

Condolences to anyone working the extra long night shift tonight.

Anyone on #MedTwitter know if patients can sign off case based-discussions? Just had a long in depth conversation with a patient about mechanisms of diabetes inspidus.

As a doctor I find myself diagnosing people in public through observation: Shuffling gait - Parkinson's Swan-neck deformity - rheumatoid arthritis Person choosing to stand at the urinal immediately next to you when all of them are free - absolute psychopath

Just found out I am very probably a mumps contact 😬

Watching the Halfords man struggle to change my headlight bulbs I now know what it must be like for patients watching me struggle to put in a wide-bore cannula

Met a patient today who is a vet and learnt that vets use different abbreviations for medication regimes. Instead of just asking I secretly googled vet prescribing abbreviations to help translate.

Hope my colleagues really appreciate me taking the time to stop and ask if they have any plans for the evening because I've just missed the bus by about 10 seconds
