This is super cool! Nice to see actual research on AI as opposed to posts just telling me how it's going to revolutionise teaching
Absolutely STOKED to have a peer-review research paper on the use of AI to mark students' work published! Wonderful working with @libbylhhills and @owen_henkel on this one. Awesome, knowledgeable people! @Carousel_Learn Paper and summary 👇 carousel-learning.com/teaching-and-l…
***PHYSICS TEACHING JOB*** Are you dreading going back to school this January? Would you like to join a department where staff wellbeing and workload is a top priority? Here's a 🧵 of reasons why you should apply to work in my department! tes.com/jobs/vacancy/t…
really nice blog - useful if you are told to plan lessons in I,we,you format. The cycles idea is crutial making a lesson follow 1 complete "I we,you" might work for one topic for other lots of mini cycles... This changed my teaching!
You can find out about the nuances of each step and why they are arranged as such in my new blog. adam-robbins.com/2023/07/31/my-… It also contains links to further reading on each aspect. If you found this helpful please like, share and follow so others get to see it. 5/5
Got me thinking I wonder if @Carousel_Learn could make different difficulty levels for retrieval??? The cued retrieval would work well with the new addition of images!
How can we gradually increase the difficulty of retrieval practice? morgsedu.wordpress.com/2023/06/30/how…
Ironically, in science exams however precise the definition you gave your students, the mark scheme will find a way to render it insufficient.
Teaching: Be very precise with your knowledge, make it clear to the examiner what you know and how it relates to the question. Examining: Yes, this person seems vaguely aware that Hitler was alive at some point, give them a mark.
Today I received 0% of the results of my final year of @durham_uni The pro vice chan for *Student Experience* told me to my face amid this dispute that the £37,000 I have paid is for the piece of paper at the end. Now that piece of paper is an expensive participation award🧵1/5
been thinking same - would love to do maths as well

#TeamHinterland indeed, thanks for all your updates through out the day Chris !
Therefore, we should use narratives as scaffolding for learning educational material. It doesn't need to be a story with people, but a causal relationship which has a sequential structure. This helps retain core knowledge. #TeamHinterland
Many of you aren’t aware of what is going on at UK universities A spiral of low pay, pension cuts and casual contracts have plunged the nation into strike Students won’t graduate. Some of the most talented people will leave. Universities will lose accreditation 1/4
***COMPETITION*** Oops, silly me. I ordered 4 too many copies of my KS3 physics workbook so *have* to give some away. One will be given to: -Someone who retweets this -Someone who likes this -Someone who comments & tags in a friend/colleague. The tagged person will also win one
good read, I remember attending an @IOPTeaching cpd that gave a sinilar tip for resistance of a wire required practical. Both good alternatives and thoughts for why to still teach 'worst circuit ever'.
NEW POST wherein I delve fearlessly(!) into the ramifications of using 'the worst circuit in the world'😂 for the current-potential difference characteristic curve required practical for GCSE physicsteacher.blog/2023/05/08/the… #iteachphysics #ChatPhysics
