The Home Office: National Scenic Area near Torridon under threat - Sign the Petition! chng.it/zYpTd6zc via @UKChange
This video from Ed Conway - SkyNews Economics Editor, is very good on the subject of testing stats: youtube.com/watch?v=JjJBFE…. As is the discussion surrounding it: twitter.com/EdConwaySky/st…
Earlier today the @UKStatsAuth gave @MattHancock a rap on the knuckles over the testing statistics produced each day by the @DHSCgovuk In an effort to try to get my head round the numbers I took a deep dive into the spreadsheets. I ended up with a bit of a headache (thread):
This is just so alarming. You can at least be warned. Just listen to the first ten minutes. "The government's system for test and trace leaves the door wide open to scammers, according to fraud experts. " bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00…
Anyone for Russian Roulette? If 1 in 400 have Covid-19 and 70 kids go back to school that means around a 1 in 6 chance one of them has got it. …ter-world-after-covid-19.blogspot.com/2020/05/anyone… #healthbeforewealth
By March 23rd, when we went into lockdown, there were 6725 (official) confirmed Coronavirus cases. 15 days earlier (estimated average time you are infectious) there had been 273. So 6725 - 273 = 6,452 people (officially) infectious.
By today there have been (officially) 212,500. 15 days ago there were 139,204. So 212,500 - 139,204 = 73,296 people (officially) infectious. Of course these people were tested as they went into hospital.
So they won't be infecting us but if they represent a (say for example) a quarter of those really infectious, then the other three quarters are about 20,000 when we went into lockdown and about 220,000 today. So not really the time to come out of lockdown yet!

The blue line is the number of people the govt says has died. The red line is the number who’ve actually died. New @ft analysis of ONS data finds 41,000 dead. More than double govt’s 17,337. ft.com/content/67e6a4…
IMHO, those of us who want a post Coronavirus Britain that puts #Healthbeforeprofit should be uniting around the following or something similar:
My seven point plan for a post Coronavirus Britain that puts health before profit:
1) Only end the lockdown when adequate testing and privacy-preserving tracing is in place. 2) Post, Public Transport, Schools, Care Homes, Medical Research and the NHS to be properly funded and run as public services instead of private companies.
3) A living wage and respect for key workers and immigrants e.g. cleaners, catering staff, shop workers, fruit pickers, warehouse and delivery workers. 4) Properly funded support for those in need instead of Charity.
5) Homes for all by compulsorily purchasing unused buildings. 6) No return to the gas guzzling climate crisis. 7) To pay for the financial crisis: * Tax the rich and big corporations. * Divert money from military spending. * No more austerity
Absolutely fascinating but rather depressing: numberphile.com/podcast/hannah… There are further links on the page but start with the podcast. I know 45 mins seems daunting but it's worth it.
This is saying the same thing as my last tweet but in a more sophisticated way and without trying to plug in actual values for Coronavirus. youtube.com/watch?v=k6nLfC…
