Everything keeps circling back to that fundamentally new idea: Exposure is the solution. A lot of us are torn up about it, for our own sakes or from our desire to protect others. But when it's done right, slowly, with a focus on truth, we see results.

Zoos are not the only people in the zoo community. Learn to work with and love all kinds of people. Isolating ourselves isn't helpful.

Around 2010, chandler edwards (then a tennessee corporation) boasted its expertise in "discovering bestiality cases before the offender is caught," and included a warning on their site: "Some involve people you know and would never suspect.”

In 2021, while planning with Toggle for a ZooTT episode, I scoffed at the trafficking behaviour I'd seen on Beastforum. I remember using that word. I presumed it to be something most zoos in our circles already understood, but I haven't seen any discussion about it.

The sexual opportunism of animals is an epidemic within zoo subculture (and the furry fandom). It is well-accepted by many zoos that sharing animals for sex with relative strangers is normal and OK. With dogs, zoos argue that if the animal shows interest, what's the harm? 🧵

It's being in touch with our own animalistic nature, with the other equal-rights inhabitants of the planet itself. It's a truth denied by society. It's the distinction of each species, the beauty of uniqueness. THIS IS WHAT ZOOPHILES ARE. Or should be. And a lot of you aren't.

This is becoming more of a problem today. Keep an eye on your groups! If they're sharing media that depicts rape, leave them. We each have a responsibility to not support those groups with our presence.

Let me just reiterate this again for those of you in the cheap seats: If you participate in a group that shares content of real animals being tortured, you are complicit in what’s going on. Period. Unacceptable. If admins don’t do anything, get the FUCK out, and never look back.

Please RT: We are looking for individuals who identify as #zoophiles to participate in research on mental health, social support, and other attitudes. If you are attracted to animals, please consider participating! surveymonkey.com/r/FBWX55J #survey #research #sexresearch #zoophilia

Why using "it" to refer to animals is the wrong choice, especially as a zoo. A thread (sources mainly in ALT text)
