The question isn't who invented the pavlova; it's who rebranded a cake already in existence, where, why & what does our 1911 discovery mean?

As France decides to ban plant-based products from being marketed with meat-like words, here are my thoughts from Regenesis about such food literalism:

This is what happens when you have 10 eggs and an afternoon to spare. #culinaryhistory #pavlova #meringue #German #torte

I've been wanting to bake this 3-tiered mammoth meringue for a long time. The recipe was published in Leipzig in 1860, but the torte is much older than that. My only recipe deviation was supermarket berries, because access to wild forest product is limited at this time. @cakes4u

There are so many reasons to admire Anna Pavlova, one of the best ballet dancers ever. Among her teachers was Enrico Cecchetti, considered the greatest ballet virtuoso of the time. She danced at the Imperial Russian Ballet, when the legendary Marius Petipa was its choreographer.

Would also point out that 1911's Strawberries Pavlova recipe is not a meringue fabrication, rather a red berry ice dessert which although found in New Zealand, originates in England.

We'd say pav arrived in NZ/Australia at roughly the same time and that it was already long-associated with the dancer. But cornflour manufacturers would help to popularise cornflour variants—which reminds, we're still searching for a copy of Australia's Sunfood Recipe Book (1927)

The Dover Egg Beater invention was a real game-changer! It drastically reduced the time for whipping egg whites and cream. Imagine how many more Pavlovas we could bake in that saved time! Learn more 👉 bahoukas.com/do-you-know-wh… #BakingHistory
