Anyone who doesn't think children need time for recess, play, and to socialize, doesn’t understand how children learn, and shouldn't be making decisions about how they learn.

If a parent asks how they can help their child succeed in school, please start with the BASICS: •Proper sleep & nutrition •Challenge them and let them fail •Any type of reading for 30 min/day 📖 •Play. Helps kids with problem solving, working with others, & sharing

When kids FEEL disliked, it can lead to a half year's worth loss of learning potential. Not that kids ARE disliked, they just FEEL that way. Make sure each & every kid KNOWS & FEELS liked in your room. Their learning depends on it.

For Tier 1, we NEED: 1. To believe ALL can learn at high levels 2. To realize WE have the ability it takes. 3. To know their learning is OUR responsibility. 4. To apply our ability to our responsibility & design the BEST Tier 1 possible for our learners. 4 basic needs.

Yes, students need rules, but even more so, they need routines, boundaries, high expectations, and responsibilities. The first doesn't require relationships, just enforcement, but the rest depend on a strong relationship to be effective.

Teachers, want to take something off your plate? Put HW in the trash. Especially for elementary, let students go home, run, play, and enjoy being a child. And read a little after playing. Then they come to school recharged instead of stressed out and you will too!

We spend over $8 Billion dollars a year on teacher attrition (turnover) and probably more this year. Imagine if we spent the money on actually trying to retain teachers instead.

Tues morning will be a struggle. We cannot forget that in the 2 weeks we’ve been off some of our kids have not heard someone say good morning, they might not of had a hot meal, or told they were loved. We must be present and excited to begin this new year. #LeadtheCharge

Never stay up late for something you wouldn’t get up early for. To be more direct. If you wouldn’t set your ⏰ alarm at 5 am to scroll social media or watch crummy tv why would you stay up till midnight doing so? More sleep = more energy to do what matters to you most in life.

Older students are still kids, even if they have bigger bodies. No adults are in our classrooms. We still need to give students grace, patience, and help them develop socially and emotionally.

You would think that teachers would get more respect in our culture, especially when everyone has a teacher or teachers who believed in them, pushed them to be their best, and made a lasting impact on their lives.
