I'm not a surgeon. But started my second second trimester miscarriage in the middle of a busy ED night shift. Pregnancy is such a short time in your career- please look after your pregnant colleagues

EIGHTY TWO percent. I had a 2nd trimester miscarriage in my first year as a consultant surgeon. It was devastating. She would have been 17 now. It's just awful to think this is such a common experience for women surgeons. 💔💔💔 #GenderEquity #ILookLikeASurgeon

I feel for you sister I do. I really do. Watch your front garden for angry raccoons!

This is also me....

Day Reg: So they're 93, with advanced COPD and metastatic cancer. They're still for full escalation. Me, sitting at the back of handover:

If @wesstreeting wants growth and more judicious use of current resources then he needs to sack and reform the @gmcuk They’re not protecting the public by ring fencing standards in medicine. They’re bullying doctors and only doctors whilst refusing to deal with quacks.

If you are worried enough to even think about assessing your own child please take them to someone else for assessment. Same for you.

I tweet quite a bit - but this one is different and perhaps the most important I’ve ever written I hope it gets shared as much as possible, so new parents don't make the same mistake I nearly made (even as a dad of five, having worked in A&E for 23 years and someone who teaches…

What he said..

Normalise calling 80% LTFT doctors “full time” doctors. The 40 hours a week they work is more than any AFC staff is contracted for Doctors who work an average of 48 hours a week should be called something else. “Overtime doctors” “Overcooked doctors” Suggestions welcome

The main problem is long waits prior to admission. These are the sickest people who need the promptest care. These trends are GOING THE WRONG WAY.

And we've had 20 months where they haven't negotiated to a solution?

Oddly familiar to when you said you’d meet us within 20 minutes during January action. But didn’t meet us for almost 2 months after it ended Nothing stopping you from speaking to us now Nothing stopping a commitment to restoring our pay If you do, strikes are cancelled

True, you have been in the room It’s where you told us you were more afraid of what the daily mail readership would think rather than actually trying to resolve our dispute Stellar leadership

I’ve been in the room with Junior Doctors. Keir Starmer cannot tell you how he would actually solve the dispute. I would stand up for taxpayers and patients. It’s called leadership.

I do 38 hours a week and am 'Less than Full Time". My husband does 37.5 hours a week in a Full time job. Make that make sense.

Biggest scam we’ve been sold is working 48 hour weeks when every other average working week is 37.5 hours. We should be paid bonus rates for those extra 10.5 hours each and every week. I’m deadly serious. #DoctorsStrike

I'm having a fever dream. Look at all these PILLOWS in the ED. They're so beautiful! And make me so happy for patients.

I am so grateful for self rostering. My work-life balance is so much better. However, how do I know if I'm on holiday or a day off? It's hard to switch off.

It's the optimistic 3am meerkat look in the waiting room that shames me. I'm sorry you definitely won't be seen until the morning team arrives!

I try to avoid walking down our corridor or through our waiting room when not working clinically… it’s worse than embarrassment for me, I feel ashamed of how we are forced to treat our patients. We’ve normalised so much.

But why does it look so happy bouncing on its mitral trampoline?

Here’s a video I made breaking down this incredible Echo from a patient with AFib #FOAMed

We had an AMAZING doctors assistant when I was in cardiology. She took bloods, chased results, organised the appropriate investigations (that we wanted) through pathways and phone calls we didn't know about. All you'd ask for in a Physician Assistant.

This sounds amazing! I hope they’re enjoying their work and your teams and patients are happy!
