1000 followers! As a way to say thank you, here is something exciting D2246 has broken cover from the paint shops. Still more work to do and the radiator to be returned but the end is in site. A massive thank you to the @southdevonrly volunteers who have helped us with it.

D2246 Work today consisted of grinding down the worst affected areas on the bonnet, followed by a light sanding all over, then the bare metal sprayed with a bare metal primer, and then finished off with the first coat of grey undercoat.

Bodywork repairs were started today on D2246 with rotten metal replaced with new on the bonnet area. Sanding back areas of the cab roof and bonnet were also started without delaying the primary task for today.

First start of D2246 following an extended period of mechanical and electrical maintenance. Further commissioning is required on all systems with minor remedial tasks identified. Running exams and the completion of bodywork restoration will see the loco return to service.

Liner removal this week, like that was a good idea.... Eventually with a little persuasion 8 liners are out. Again if you feel you can spare some money to help with the cost of this overhaul. Here is our paypal - paypal.me/devondiesels Or you can join our class 50 membership.
