Corollary: by default, writers should come up with SFXs. Otherwise, always ask your letterer if they're comfortable coming up with them. And in case they do, trust in what they write! Changing SFXs is very time-costly (as it could even mean starting from scratch!).
Noticing a serious uptick of writers not adding SFX spellings to scripts. Instead they just add something like: SFX: Boulder falls on car. Personally, I'm happy to make up SFX spellings, I enjoy it. But there are a lot of letterers who aren't happy about it.
