Possibly my favourite grumpy teenager exchange ever on a train this week: Mum: “Stop kicking the chair, Tom.” Grumpy Teenager: “OMG, I’ve told you before, stop doxxing me like this.” Mum: “Tom is your name, Tom, using your name in public is not doxxing.”

Bassist Richard Davis turns 93 today. Here's a great story in Richard's words: “I forget the year, but I was in Birdland, hanging out and listening to Coltrane. Between sets, I went back in the kitchen where he was, and he said, ‘Richard, I want you to come in the band.’

to gain the right to use this hospital tv, patients have to pay the hospital an extra $8 a day. sure, tv isn’t as important as medicine or care, but it’s a simple pleasure that can improve patients’ mood. $240 a month for tv. That’s far more than cable/electric would cost. why?

In “The Power Broker,” Caro says, “When RM came to power in NYC in 1934, the city’s mass transportation system was probably the best in the world. When he left power in '68 it was quite possibly the worst.” While improved since, the legacy of RM's assault on transit is still felt

I was 11 when Reagan was elected and since that time there hasn't been a single moment when the ultra-rich didn't have an almost complete stranglehold on US policy. In other words I can't point to any examples in my lifetime of what American sanity would even look like.

The Vipers have utterly imploded since this tweet. Maybe they should have gone with a "The Royal Scam" or "Can't Buy A Thrill" helmet aesthetic?

Every time I see these Vegas Vipers XFL helmets, I'm reminded of the cover of Steely Dan's 1977 album "Aja."

We liked The name the Kinks because it represented being outsiders, people that were different…the unusuals or people that weren’t like everybody else.
