With NIL and revenue sharing still up in the air, collectives are in a tight spot. Transfer portal season is around the corner, and the House vs. NCAA debate is far from settled. How much will need to be spent to keep up? Those who adapt to the shifting college sports landscape…
I know the loss to Tennessee was tough, but this is why I truly believe Kelsey will build a successful program here. In today’s college basketball landscape, you have to be a CEO—managing more than just the team on the court. His energy, commitment to the community, and…
College hoops is different in 2024. Experience isn’t just valuable—it’s becoming the new currency in college basketball. With NIL and the transfer portal, programs aren’t just recruiting talent anymore—they’re investing in proven production. The days of “wait your turn” are…
There are more players’ coaches now than ever before. The new NIL and transfer portal era has completely reshaped how coaches manage their players. With NIL contracts on the line, the stakes are higher than ever. Keeping athletes healthy and performing at their peak is more…
Athletic departments that truly prioritize their athletes will be most successful in this NIL era of college sports. The ones that don’t will simply fall behind. 👇
PROGRAMING ALERT: Friendly reminder! Later on this evening at 8EST the @CardsCompanion boys are going one on one with @Dan_Furman and the fine people at the @502_Circle Make sure to tune in to get the up to date info about NIL!
The grind that young athletes go through is real—especially with the added emotional toll of NIL. It’s an issue that has become very personal for me. I know firsthand how tough the day-to-day can be. I see it in my 23-year-old brother, who’s working tirelessly to make it through…
International athletes are game-changers for college programs and the right NIL support can elevate their impact even more. Collectives need to help these players monetize their brands in the U.S. and beyond. Youth camp partnerships while traveling abroad are a prime example,…
I may be biased, but Ja’Corey Brooks is definitely one of the most underrated receivers in the ACC. Averaging 17.5 yards per catch this season, the Alabama transfer has shown out when it matters the most—against the toughest teams on Louisville’s schedule.
Chick Fil-A percentage night tonight! See you there 🐮
From what I’ve seen, the QB market in the next transfer portal window is about to explode. With more teams willing to invest big money for a game-changer under center, those who can make the right move might just change their season and the trajectory of their program.
We have had conversations around this, but are trying to think even bigger! We are working on some collaborative ways to keep enhancing the 502Circle donor experience that would have typical CAF benefits integrated in.
Any discussion with CAF about earning points for donations to 502 Circle?...KFund, for UK athletics, is doing so for donations to their different collectives. Thanks
Great question! I believe this will all work itself out. Unfortunately, there will always be difficult circumstances but as NIL keeps evolving, athletes will be even more contractually bound to completing the season. I can see this being more solidified heading into next Football…
Our donors have been really good to us 😉
Unfortunately, we technically can’t do game based increases. I love the idea, but may sound old school here…we’re paying you a real amount of money, go win regardless of who we are playing!
Are we able to reward the team after a single game..."hey, beat UNC today and $10K goes into your account today"? Extra incentive for big games...assuming $ is available.
Most do, yes. To be honest, it’s typically the upper echelon of players that do have contracts. This will change heading into next year and there will be contracts across the board. Things have changed a lot especially since the last Football December portal window.
We do get a ton of support from local corporations and even a couple of regional/national groups. While they aren’t individually on the same financial scale as the Memphis FedEx concept, having multiple groups step up gives us the feeling of more stability moving forward.
Are we able to secure NIL deals through major corporations in the area like Ford and UPS? Much like Memphis has been able to with Fedex.
Paul - awesome question. I do think that as NIL continues to mature, there will definitely be incentive based agreements. They aren’t legal from an NCAA standpoint in the current landscape, but let’s call it what it is! The more teams and players perform, the more marketable they…
As the NIL landscape continues to grow, and the players/agents are asking for larger sums of money, do you think the collectives will start to base these contracts on player performance?
