Exactly.

“We are moral agents, responsible for our decisions even if we can’t fully escape the matrix in which we make them,” @jbouie writes. “And yet so much of the conversation about the modern Republican Party assumes the opposite.” nyti.ms/3EdVEj2

This is an amazing thread about an amazing man.

In 1807, Omar ibn Said, a Muslim scholar, was stolen from Senegal & sold into slavery in America. He left behind an autobiography written in Arabic. To mark the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade & its Abolition, a thread on the remarkable story of Omar…

Very fun to do an interview in the Chinese Garden at ⁦@TheHuntington⁩ about the upcoming ⁦@LAOpera⁩ production of ON GOLD MOUNTAIN. Could there be a more beautiful spot for nature and music?

An excellent thread about what we can discuss to combat climate change.

The entire world is telling us, each and every day, that the biggest problems we face have individual solutions, from masks to carbon footprints. And of course it feels overwhelming, because none of us is capable of fixing the world. Of course it feels like too much: it is.

Pretty cool when you get to see Get Out for work. Highly recommend— had a blast.

Get Out has officially hit the silver screen like never before: in DTLA's favorite gothic palace, with live musical accompaniment. Experience Jordan Peele's masterpiece of modern horror @theatre_acedtla w/us all Halloween weekend: LAOpera.org/GetOut. 📷: Paul Viapiano

It’s time to meet the haunting musical voices in "Get Out." Tia Simone and Ronald O’Hannon from the @DC6Singers are taking over our Instagram ahead of our Halloween residency at @theatre_acedtla Tune in tomorrow as they bring you behind the scenes of this brilliant production.

I work with these folks and see what they do everyday and even I’m impressed.

Opera has endured the unimaginable and a pandemic proved no exception. Through it all our song prevailed, ringing stronger than before. After so long away from our theater, it’s time to sing our song together again. Hear our journey, as told by the incredible @ImAngelaBassett

A great example of long-term brand focus and consistency paying off (even when it's controversial).

From climate change to voting rights, Patagonia has been willing to risk backlash by taking positions on contentious social issues. It's a risk that has paid off. latimes.com/business/story…

When I think of Eli Broad, the image I can't get out of my head are the lines of people day after day happily waiting to get into @TheBroadMuseum for free. What a loss.

"Los Angeles should be viewed as one of the four great cultural capitals of the world" - Eli Broad in #LATimes. His extraordinary vision informed his giving and allowed LA arts organizations to shine for all the world to see and for all Angelenos to enjoy. We are heartbroken.
