A cracking haul of local year ticks at Ladywalk yesterday evening including a site first (and county first for me) drake Green-winged Teal, Greenshank and 2 Ruddy Shelducks. Also a single late Wigeon, Ringed Plover and 3 LRP @WestMidBirdClub

Quick trip up to Coombe Abbey CP after work to try and find the Cattle Egrets but no luck. I did find at least 6 (possibly 8) Ring-necked Parakeets nearby. Along with the Brandon birds, possible evidence that they're branching out from Coventry into Warwickshire?

Drake Garganey still at Brandon Marsh on East Marsh @BirdGuides

Quick stop at Brandon Marsh this evening on our way back from the Peak District yielded a few local year ticks - Cuckoo, 6 House Martins, 4 Sedge Warbler, 5 Common Sandpiper and 2 LRP. Also singing Garden Warbler, Water Rail and one less Lapwing.

Arctic and Common Tern comparison and Earlswood Lakes this morning. @earlswoodbirds

Very blustery conditions and they're staying distant, but here are a few of at least 10 Little Gulls currently at Draycote Water

Chuffed to find this cracking male Redstart on my morning walk and only five minutes from home. 3 Yellow Wagtails were an added bonus. @WestMidsBirding @WestMidBirdClub

A couple of decent county year ticks in the evening sun at Brandon Marsh, post work yesterday - Ring-necked Parakeet and the pair of (sleeping) Ferruginous Ducks brings the local year list up to 108.

150 miles away on the west coast of Anglesey and about to head home when the news first broke, we hot-footed it over to Doxey Marshes. Managed to see the Alpine Swift performing beautifully over Doxey Castle for about 20 minutes before it disappeared from view. Thanks @DMarshes!

Continuing my "rubbish photos of Grebes" theme, the smart, summar plumaged Slavonian Grebe is still showing at Penrhos Coastal Park @BirdGuides @AngBirdNews

Almost two years to the day since my last Black-necked Grebe at Draycote. Unfortunately the views today weren't quite as good.

Little Bunting just showed well on the feeder at Stanborough Lakes for about 10 minutes before dropping back into the reedbed. @BirdGuides

Male Lesser-spotted Woodpecker just showed well at @RSPBMiddleton for about a minute before flying North. @lesserspotnet @WestMidsBirding

Couldn't fit them all in the frame but I had a flock of 49 Meadow Pipit today, on Shuckburgh Road, half a mile south-east of Napton. @S_WarksBirding

Great morning yesterday birding the Tame Valley with @SueToon79 - 62 species in total. Highlights were 4 county year ticks including long overdue Pintail pair at Lea Marston and also Egyptian Goose, Kingfisher and Nuthatch

Nice lunch time walk over to Farnborough. The fields are still mostly frozen which has brought the usually flighty and skittish Redwing flocks closer to the warmer field margins. #LocalBigYear

Brilliant to finally catch up with some Waxwings this winter. The group of four at Reydon continued give amazing views with a bit of patience. A pleasure to also meet @Lesliecater1 and chat all things related toWaxwings and Dartford Warblers 😁

A magical four owl hour at Eldernell this evening. A brief stop on the way to Norfolk yielded 3 Long-eared, 3 Shorties, Tawny and a single Barn Owl hunting over the fields as we left.

Nice evening at Draycote once the wind had dropped off. 2 GND and LT Duck still. Decent roost albeit a bit scattered by sailing activity. Adult Caspian and 2 adult YLG the highlights. @Draycotebirding
