📢 We have PhD vacancy in our lab on understanding the response of freshwater microorganisms to environmental change: findaphd.com/phds/project/u… Application deadline 31st October. Start date January 2025. Please RT @BES_AquaEco @freshwaterbio
📢 You would like to develop your own research group in global change evolutionary #ecology? If so, we look forward to receiving your application for the following tenure track group leader #position! karriere-igb.softgarden.io/job/48872573/G… #SienceJobs in #Berlin
Big congrats to @hhuong152 for publishing her first #PhD paper! Read about heatwave effects on zooplankton community and trait composition, as well as trophic interactions: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ec… Great teamwork!
My first-author paper is out at @Ecol_Evol! We studied how shifts in zooplankton traits under different warming scenarios affect ecosystem function. Curious about our findings? Check it out here: doi.org/10.1002/ece3.7… @Zsofia_Horvath1 @CsabaVad1 @schneiderbea @palffy_karoly
Our first paper 🥇 resulting from our citizen science project @MyPond_HU 🪷 Hungary is full with garden ponds 🔵 🔵 🔵 They are intensely managed... 🐟 but they might still be useful for biodiversity! More coming soon, with another paper on the way! ;)
Most garden ponds in Hungary are designed and managed to keep ornamental fish. This can have big implications for how well they support aquatic biodiversity. Read about our MyPond project: link.springer.com/article/10.100…
It may seem counterintuitive that to get ahead in an accelerating world, you should try slowing down [...] give yourself the time to read deeply, write clearly, and reason quantitatively, preferably after taking that long walk. Amazingly true @mcanedofem! esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/be…
And it is done!!! Closing the mesocosms experiment after 2 months of insane intensity!! Thanks to all these #MetaHeroines who have accompanied me in this adventure!! #BombCratersPonds #Apaj Now, time to start compile and order all the results 🤞🏽🤞🏽 #MetaHeroesWP1 @MSCActions
One #Pond to rule them all, One #Disturbance (Salinization) to find them, One #CentralityGradient to bring them all and in #Apaj bind them. #MetaHeroes field experiment fully ongoing! This Tuesday we salinized the mesocosms ! Let's see🤞🏿@MSCActions LOTR photo by: @hhuong152
How does the diet selection of omnivorous invertebrates change with food densities? In our new study by @vysneha9 et al, we studied an invasive mysid and showed a shift from zooplankton to a smaller and less profitable microalga once it is present in sufficient amounts.
Interested in reading about changes in the food menu of invasive mysid shrimps 🦐 depending on prey density? Find more about it in our recently published paper onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.10…… @WileyEcolEvol @CsabaVad1 @Zsofia_Horvath1 @palffy_karoly @Adam_Fierpasz
Let’s pay tribute to those who carry out detailed & difficult ecological field studies (often not published by the ‘top’ journals) Which are vital to those carrying out meta-analyses (often are published by these same journals)
Our paper on using a modeling approach to better understand the impact of long-term #warming and #nutrient loads on #phytoplankton dynamics has been published in L&O this week: aslopubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10… @aslo_org @dave_hambright
@MERGE_ECR will be hosting a FREE online #EcologicalToolbox event on March 20th 13:00 CET where ECRs will share tools that they regularly use in their research. Register here: shorturl.at/btwIW #mesocosms @SIL_limnology @aquacosm @aslo_org @AIL_limnologia @BES_AquaEco

Do you work with mesocosms and you are planning to publish your work? This is an @aslo_org Special Issue to consider!
📢 Call for papers: #ASLO_LO Special Issue! We are welcoming submissions from various fields of #oceanography & #limnology which rely on the use of #mesocosms to make significant advancement in the understanding of key aquatic processes: aslo.org/announce-fall-… @wileyearthspace
With @KristienBrans, @CsabaVad1, Luc De Meester et al, we studied local & regional adaptation in Daphnia in two saline habitat networks: soda pans and bomb crater ponds Strong local adaptation is present in the bomb craters, while soda pan populations are adapted regionally to🧂
