Excited to share my first, first-author publication that was released today in @SciReports! We showed that exosome-associated AAV could be used to transduce lymphocytes after systemic delivery to mice, expressing both GFP and a surface molecule, IL-2Rα nature.com/articles/s4159…

Huge thanks to everyone who joined us at #EMBL Heidelberg for a wonderful #EESMetastasis meeting 🙏🙏 We are inspired by all the incredible science shared this week - and look forward to seeing you all again in 2026 - for the third 'Defining and Defeating Metastasis' conference!

On my way to Heidelberg for the EMBL Symposium: Defining and Defeating Metastasis this week! I’ll be giving a talk on our ongoing investigation of tumor-immune coevolution during metastasis and look forward to meeting new folks in the field! #EESMetastasis

Our lab finally got around to testing out Julian’s homemade Gibson MM and, though we haven’t tried a true head to head with NEB, we’re seeing a sharp increase in colonies compared to commercial mixes. Thanks for sharing @davidrliu!

Three of the more costly and frequently used reagents in molecular biology are rolling circle amplification (RCA) mix, chemically competent MachOne (or other E. coli) cells, and Gibson assembly mix. Postdoc Julian Willis—who is starting his own lab in the UK soon—developed…

The White House Executive Order on AI highlights the risks of LLMs empowering malicious actors in developing biological, cyber, and chemical weapons. To measure and reduce these risks, we’re releasing the Weapons of Mass Destruction Proxy (WMDP) benchmark. (🧵below)

Would love an AI assistant for plasmid design. “Hey [assistant], could you make me a piggybac plasmid with CMV driving mScarlet, and could you drop 12x PP7 loops into the 3’UTR?” And it would just, give me primers and a cloning strategy. Tired of doing this by hand.

Excited to announce our involvement in this @ARPA_H project led by @veiseho to rapidly develop a new immunotherapy approach to treat some of the most intractable malignancies.

Super excited to lead #THOR, an @ARPA_H funded effort to transform how cancer is treated today! We have assembled a world-class team of #engineers, #immunologists, #syntheticbiologist, and #clinicians to bring this solution to patients within 5 years! news.rice.edu/news/2023/feds…

So excited to have @CortBreuer joining us from @stanfordimmuno Can't wait to see all of the discoveries and inventions he generates!

I'm excited to be joining @RetickerFlynn as one of his first graduate students as the lab opens up @StanfordOHNS We'll be working to understand how cancer evades the immune system to metastasize and designing therapies that overcome these vulnerabilities.

Interesting (in a positive way!) seeing the Baker Lab/@UWproteindesign and @generate_biomed diffusion model preprints drop via PDF on their individual websites, not on @biorxivpreprint - expect this might become more normal for really fast-moving ML fields. (links in 🧵)

If you are: 1️⃣ applying to PhD programs AND 2️⃣ interested in startups or VC 3️⃣ comment here or message me for 1:1 advice! (esp. for computational biology / chemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering)

Thrilled to announce I'll be joining the Stanford Immunology (@stanfordimmuno) PhD program this coming fall! Ready for the west coast 🌲!
