The fallow deer in Dublin's @phoenixparkopw are a major factor in suppressing the biodiversity of this vital green space. I argue in this blog that it's time that they go iwt.ie/time-to-remove…

Cleaning some remote sensors on a frosty morning. These help us keep an eye on the health of the River Nore during some large construction projects, they just need a bit of TLC from time to time 🧼

We had a long overdue hike in the Galtees over the weekend. Beautiful dry, crisp morning with great visibility. Movement is medicine, get outside and stay active over the winter!

The Nore was flexing it's muscles today 👀 Incredibly impressive river, the amount of work being done on it, and the insight garnered is staggering.

Brief moment of calm during storm Martin last week. Bit of jazz on while collecting water samples from the local landfill 💧🌳

An orange rain warning doesn't make for the best day to visit the old head of Kinsale. Shame the tragedy of the Lusitania isn't spoken about more in Irish schools, especially WRT the ethics/ politics of safeguarding civilians in wartime. 1,200 souls as collateral...

Got the last of the daylight for a swim at Snave Pier, Ballylicky yesterday evening. Always go with a buddy when open water swimming. It's easy to forget about dangerous it can be, even experienced swimmers can get in trouble 🏊‍♂️

Bringing some of my instagram content over to twitter. Rules applied to exercises are totally arbitrary and should not stand in the way of participation. The only constraints on human movement and potential are those imposed by reductionists and fear mongers.

Almost 30% of students who drive to UCD live within 6 km of Belfield campus. Madness.

Cycle lane will salt the earth and destroy our crops. Cycle lane will poison our water supply. Cycle lane will cause mass emigration. Cycle lane will initiate The Purge. Or, y’know, it’s all a bit of hyperbole and it will make the area safer and increase business.

"Why is it called Hungry Hill? - Because it's hungry for bodies" Stunning views atop Hungry Hill, the highest of the Caha mountains in Cork. Textbook glacial features, would make for an amazingly immersive learning experience for students.

Great morning testing the local surface waters for landfill leachate contamination. The bright mornings are just about hanging on 🌞❄

Finally tackled Lugnaquilla over the weekend. Its funny how peat bogs are amazingly underrated WRT carbon sequestration. Maybe we struggle with the idea that the best thing we can do for a habitat/ the environment, is to leave it alone 😂

Today approx. 1,000 #CleanAirTogether participants in Cork City are installing their tubes to measure the traffic-based air pollutant Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) across the city for the next 4 weeks. Best of luck everyone! #CleanAirTogether #KnowYourNO2 @AnTaisce

It is estimated by @EUEnvironment that 22 million people suffer from chronic high levels of annoyance and 6.5 million people suffer from chronic high levels of sleep disturbance as a result of long-term noise exposure. #InternationalNoiseAwarenessDay #INAD2021

Data cannot be racist, transphobic etc Data is data & has no agenda. How it is collected, cherry-picked, interpreted, represented by an individual can certainly be biased & have an agenda. But good quality collected data is simply data. Important to remember in discourse.
