Dear Youth Hockey, Today is the day. It's an important day. A day in youth hockey that everyone's been waiting for. Today, @MYHockeyRanking has released it's first rankings! I've already gotten a message from a hockey director about an angry parent about their team's ranking.…

The best athletes don’t just work hard. They recover hard. Much of their gains happen between practices or competition. It’s the recovery that creates balance, helping the fire to stay lit to get better each time they hit the ice.

To all 04 families heading into WHL draft. Having lived it and not being drafted here’s some takeaways: Don’t get caught up in it, it’s hard I know. Remember why you started playing. Parents - remember too. Don’t suck the fun out. Focus on your now. What can you do today.
This should be blasted at every minor hockey rink in Canada until it catches. Coaches coach, parents parent, and players play. Know your role!
BEFORE PRACTICE: “I’m obsessed with hockey and I’ll do anything to reach my dreams.” AFTER PRACTICE: Spends 10 min shooting pucks off other players sticks, then plays “who can sauce higher” with another *dedicated* teammate. GAME DAY: Sits & blames the coach for not liking them
Six different drugs for Leukemia yesterday, including 3 chemo. Back on the ice today loving hockey! #OwenStrong #Warrior #Hockey #PuckCancer
NEVER GIVE UP Edina SR Forward Kevin Delaney never made an A or AA team at EHA. He worked hard, battled from the B1/B2/J-Gold ranks to JV his SOPH & JR year. This year, he made the varsity and had 35 points in 31 games, including a pivotal goal and an assist in state title game.
How to gain a slight edge over other hockey players: 1. Consistency 2. Train out of your comfort zone 3. Be positive with yourself 4. Be positive with your teammates 5. Be 100% accountable for your results 6. Be a student of the game 7. Stop planning and take action daily
Sources of personal competitive advantage: - delayed gratification - capital - network (who you know) - unique skills or combinations - platform - ability to suffer - family / home life - speed - ability to change your mind - ability to learn/adapt What am I missing?
1.Elementary school kids (fuNdamentals) are not mini middle school kids. 2. Middle School kids(learning to train) are not mini junior high kids. 3. Junior high kids (training to train) are not mini high school kids. 4. High/college kids (train to compete)are not mini pros #LTAD
Brady in the locker room after the game is incredible. Very clear everyone would go to war for him.
YOU (complaining): My coach is political and only plays the players he "likes!" waa waa waa ALSO YOU: First one off the ice after practice, eats like crap before games, on phone til midnight and tired during the day, pouts on the bench, quits drills early in practice. Weird.
