NHS managers make up 2.5% of the workforce. Compared to 9.5% of the rest of the UK workforce. My last trust had an annual turnover of 2.4 billion pounds - the idea that NHS trusts could function with less managers is an opinion born out of ignorance.

The NHS does not need more money thrown at it. What the NHS needs is to get rid of the ridiculous amount of middle management pen pushers so as to employ more frontline nurses. It’s not rocket science that it needs restructuring not more money.

As a fellow NHS Middle Manager who CRIED most days for the first 3 months, let me share why you should rethink your view on Managers in #NHS & stop bashing them Also you can tell me who will do the following instead of them…and no you can’t just “not do” the following…🧵

John Glen, deputy to @Jeremy_Hunt, wants to know “why doctors and nurses say they spend up to half their time not with patients, but on admin”. The Lansley reforms cut NHS management by 40% in 2012. That work still needed doing, so now it’s clinicians doing it. Happy to help.

MEGA-THREAD (sorry) Boris Johnson was born in USA, and lived there using the name "Al" until he went to Eton, at which point contemporaries said he invented "the eccentric English persona" we know now. His family calls him Al in private. "Boris" is just a marketing brand.

They were partying at the exact time my brother died alone in hospital of Covid. 7pm on 14/12/20. 19 days after my mum also died in hospital alone. I can’t even speak I am so distraught and incandescent with rage.

If I hear “He achieved the vaccine roll out” one more time I will lose my shit. The NHS rolled out the vaccine. Myself and millions of other volunteers donated our time for free to get people protected. Johnson didn’t even believe that Covid fucking existed. Get fucked.

CN: DWP I've talked about this before, but as this ad is activating trauma, I want to explain what disabled people live with. More than 15 years ago (yes, before the Tories), all my benefits suddenly stopped. When I called to ask why I was put through to the fraud office. 1/

Your operation has been cancelled because the surgeon is doing payroll, the nurse is cooking 2000 dinners, the radiologist is emptying the machine in the car park, and the anaesthesiologist is assessing job applications from NHS workers who already do the job they're applying for

My role as an NHS "pen pusher" meant our psychiatrists didn't have to type & send multiple clinic letters or referrals a day, book appointments and deal with routine queries - freeing up their time to see more patients. Admin staff keep the NHS turning. This headline is gross.

What would happen if all the women running school summer fairs went into politics? They’re fucking dynamite and they know how to get shit done for no money, when no one wants to do it, no messing. Let’s quit our tombola-discussing whatsapp groups & sort out the country instead.

It's #NationalBreastfeedingWeek & this is a small plea for staff working in acute wards. Please remember to ask if your patient is BFing. I had a terrible time when urgently admitted with Covid in first lockdown - was my first time being separated from BF baby & it was horrific

We have very good polio vaccine coverage in the UK, but the UKHSA is urging anyone whose children have not yet had their full course - as babies, then at 3 then at 14 - to get their children vaccinated as soon as possible. Risk to wider public is low inews.co.uk/news/health/po…
