All of our members have been working long hours all week, even our Deputy Chief. Today, he assisted in stopping a stolen vehicle involved in numerous hit and runs. One individual was taken into custody.

Another thank you to our invaluable partners!

We are aware of a couple of planned events in Portland, and we are monitoring interest and activity. Our partners, @MultCoSO and @ORStatePolice are with us tonight, and we’re prepared to respond to any threats to community safety.

I echo this sentiment. A big thank you to our numerous partners!

Shout out to @ORStatePolice and @MultCoSO for their support tonight. We have Portland covered, and we are ready and able to respond to any disruption across the city.

Today I'm sharing a report regarding increasing our sworn personnel. It is time to build PPB to an appropriate size and create a healthy agency where its members have time to connect with the community and focus on effective crime reduction strategies. portland.gov/police/news/20…

We hired 10 new officers today. It was a pleasure to welcome them to our organization. Adding these individuals to PPB gives me great hope.

Solid police work

Last night pro-active police work from East Precinct night shift officers resulted in the location of a stolen vehicle in the area of SE 162/Division. There was a bag full of drugs, scales, money, loaded firearm. Driver and passenger taken into custody - multiple charges pending.

I spent my Friday evening at Welcoming Week at Ventura Park. It’s organized by the Office of Community & Civic Life and aims at building equitable, inclusive, and safe communities for refugees and immigrants. It was great connecting with community!

Despite the rain, I enjoyed watching our members play against @PDXFire in a charity soccer match!

After a 5-yr hiatus, a number of our members laced up the cleats Saturday to play in the Portland Police vs Portland Fire Charity Soccer Match at Providence Park. We managed to squeak out a 3-0 victory over @PDXFire
