All of our members have been working long hours all week, even our Deputy Chief. Today, he assisted in stopping a stolen vehicle involved in numerous hit and runs. One individual was taken into custody.
Another thank you to our invaluable partners!

Today I'm sharing a report regarding increasing our sworn personnel. It is time to build PPB to an appropriate size and create a healthy agency where its members have time to connect with the community and focus on effective crime reduction strategies. portland.gov/police/news/20…
We hired 10 new officers today. It was a pleasure to welcome them to our organization. Adding these individuals to PPB gives me great hope.
Solid police work
Last night pro-active police work from East Precinct night shift officers resulted in the location of a stolen vehicle in the area of SE 162/Division. There was a bag full of drugs, scales, money, loaded firearm. Driver and passenger taken into custody - multiple charges pending.

After a 5-yr hiatus, a number of our members laced up the cleats Saturday to play in the Portland Police vs Portland Fire Charity Soccer Match at Providence Park. We managed to squeak out a 3-0 victory over @PDXFire
I thoroughly enjoyed this event and connecting with community.
Chief Day was joined by numerous PPB members at the annual APICCO (Asian and Pacific Islander Community Coalition of Oregon) Gala Saturday evening.
