Several members of the Chesapeake Fire Department's Foam Firefighting Team attended the TSI Advanced Foam Firefighting School in College Station, Texas. They spent a week training on strategies and tactics for challenging flammable liquids incidents.

WELCOME HOME VA-TF2! The Virginia Beach-based Urban Search and Rescue Team, Virginia Task Force 2 (VA-TF2), returned home to Virginia Beach yesterday. The Task Force deployed to South Carolina to provide aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Debby.

Congratulations to Lt. Chad Tilghman, Lt. Kyle Billips, FF/EMT Jonathan Best, FF/EMT Ted Locklear, and FF/EMT Brian Para for their heroic actions on a 2023 fire leading to the rescue of two citizens. All received Medal of Valor Awards from the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce.

Firefighter Ben Merritt was recognized last night by the American Legion as Firefighter of the Year. He was joined by Fire Chief Gulisano and others in a special ceremony and dinner event. Firefighter Merritt is assigned to Firehouse 2 in Portlock. Nice job Ben! 🚒 🇺🇸

Chesapeake firefighters responded to a fire this evening at the MacDonald Manor Apartments in Indian River. Fire was showing from a second floor apartment when units arrived. Multiple apartments were damaged and 17 residents displaced. The cause was ruled accidental.

Fire Chief Gulisano presented Master Firefighter Justin Shaffer with a Military Appreciation Award for his years of service in the U.S. Army. Justin is a 25 year veteran of the CFD, assigned to Firehouse 7 in the St Brides area of Southern Chesapeake.
