I wonder what music they are listening to?

The dance of black holes and neutron stars This Orrery created by @actualdrdoctor illustrates the masses of our O3b #GWTC3 candidates. More massive binaries slowly waltz, while lower mass ones energetically swing 📰: doi.org/10.1103/PhysRe…

For our @ARC_DMPP annual ECR meeting this year I gave a lecture entitled "How to make a plot", in which I tried (and failed) not to rant about all the things I like and dislike about plots in physics.

in physics they don't say "i love you" instead they say "we expand to quadratic order in the small parameter ε and drop higher order terms" and i think that's beautiful

It is an amazing time to be an astrophysicist with all the data coming in from those cutting-edge missions. Congrats to the team of #EsaGaia for this incredible mission and series of comprehensive catalogs.

ESA's #GaiaMission is the most productive space science mission ever measured by number of scientific publications: 8.000 so far! Nothing equivalent exists to Gaia now nor will in the near future. The catalogue acquired by Gaia will remain a reference in astronomy for decades.

Re: the "blackholes are dark energy" paper Even if one accepts that BHs can be attractive at small scales & cause acceleration at large scales & give the right Λ Won't this mean ~70% of the universe's energy density is BHs? This can't be consistent with obs in galaxies, right?
