Happy to report that THE DARK KNIGHT is still a perfect blockbuster. The 12-yr-old wasn't quite ready for its adult ideas about chaos, power, heroism & authority, so there were a *lot* of "...whats?!" But the momentum is undeniable. And so is Ledger. Man, what could have been.
As chaotic & admirable as his career. History will be kind to Adam Sandler, who has seemingly done exactly what he's wanted artistically for the past 40yrs. There's so much silly, stupid joy here, & the sentimental closer feels like a career thesis. I smiled til my face hurt.
