After reading the article by Angèle Christin and Rebecca Lewis, I found it very interesting that the entire structure of the YouTube ecosystem is still in flux. Very different from traditional media which had specific structure by the end of the 19th century. #CUcomm3200_19EH

It is very interesting to look at the ways that we have presented ourselves and what we value and how they’ve both changed over time. Social media and technology innovation is the clear innovator of this gradual transformation. #CUcomm3200_18EH

It’s fascinating to see that even 70+ years ago, media and consumerism allowed barriers to be broken and voices to be heard just as they are today. #CUcomm3200_17EH

I think Duffy and Chan’s definition of surveillance as being enacted by governments or corporations to exert control over individual citizen is the perfect way to describe what surveillance truly is. #CUcomm3200_16EH

Alice Marwick and Rebecca Lewis explain media manipulation extremely well and really go into depth about how much media depends on analytics and metrics. #CUcomm3200_15EH

Based on this weeks reading. it’s easy to see that years of distrust from various groups of people towards the healthcare system has created tons of misinformed narratives that effect each individual demographic. #CUcomm3200_14EH

After reading the second half of Gillespie’s article on governance, I am quite impressed by the number of different laws that various countries use to combat cybercrime and other potentially dangerous instances within online websites. #CUcomm3200_13EH

After reading this weeks articles, it is easy to see how quickly and easily these national social movements can spread through social media chains. #CUcomm3200_11EH

Scannells explanation of public events occurring in two places at once is a very interesting way to put what goes on during a live event into perspective in the world of media today. #CUcomm3200_10EH

#CUcomm3200_9EH After reading the article from TIME Magazine, it amazes me that a company like google could have their search results be so skewed in one way.

Before reading this weeks passage, i never really thought about how people’s picture taking methods could reflect how or what they feel inside. #CUcomm3200_8EH

Jennifer Preston really opened up my eyes about the journalism world and the opportunities that come along with it. Definitely recommend hearing what she has to say! #CUcomm3200

The challenge on journalist’s morals is becoming more and more imminent with the increase in technology and new metrics available. They are faced with the decision to produce misinformation or suffer the online interaction loss #CUcomm3200_9EH

Silverman mentioning stories replaced by TikTok feeds and some apps having automated stories really shows just how much social media platforms are becoming like one another #cucomm3200_8EH

I think algorithms creating content and predicting demand leads to a boring feed. The value of surprise we talked about in the reading should be the main goal of algorithms. #cucomm3200_7EH

The Washington Post article “You don’t know it but you’re working for Facebook” raises my attention to the question of our cybersecurity. Just how much data are they surveilling to make money off of us? #CUComm3200_5EH

After reading the words from Lee Humphreys about Social Media, I have a new perspective on just how relevant some of the media that we consume is. What others may think is newsworthy, can be completely useless to another. #CUcomm3200_4EH @EllieHomant @CUComm3200
