Forever grateful to have been taught by Helen, and so lovely to spend some time reflecting with a friend I made on my PGCE course. We both wouldn't be where we are today without Helen ♡
To the wonderful Helen: you made me fall in love with History again, introduced me to the kindest community, and showed me how to thrive in the greatest job in the world. I will always be eternally grateful for you, your work, and your endless support ♡
For those who knew and loved my inspirational friend and colleague, Helen Snelson, it is my sad job to tell you that she died yesterday afternoon. I know how much she meant to so many of you and she was so grateful for your support and love these last few months.
One of the best things about being a History teacher is the community that comes along with it... we're teachers from different parts of the UK who met through a summer institute, and are now friends for life! 🌟
After marking the OCR HUA paper this year, I've set myself the challenge of visiting all the places I got the ✨pleasure✨ of reading about... First up Fountains Abbey (with some absolute History teaching Legends)
ECT Year 2 complete 🥳 so happy to find out I'll be an ITT mentor next year too! Happy Summer Holidays to everyone from me & the Taylor Swift inspired edit I made for my classroom (only printed small, in my dream world this would be an entire mural) 🫶
Such a lovely evening 🌟 feeling lucky as always to live/work in an area with such a strong sense of community for History generally & for History education

Seeking some help from #historyteacher twitter! I run a 30min History Club in the school day & we have 32 students signed up - fab, but all my ideas/plans were for a much smaller group (e.g. moving around the room, which we can't do with 32). Any ideas? (No access to computers)
New term means new group for History Club - we're focusing on using objects as sources & turned the classroom into a mini archive 📜🎖
A transformational week learning to find the 'joy' in even the darkest historical events (and indeed finding the joy of community with these lovely inspirational humans) thank you @BalliolOxford for inviting me to join the Teaching the TAST Summer Institute
As well as fantastic learning, I was lucky enough to meet such an amazing group of people. A community formed over the past days and I’ve met some of the kindness, inspirational and talented people. @history_CMc @ChloeOHistory @Teacherishx @jcs5553 @CPalmerHistory @peggybrunache
Been lucky enough to spend 5 days with THE most incredible bunch of human beings I've ever met, thanks to the Teaching TAST Summer Institute (@BalliolOxford @AmRevMuseum) I've never felt so joyous, supported, encouraged & inspired. This community will last far into the future 💕

...and just like that, my first year of teaching is over! Ready for a summer that is equal parts restful, and full of history (travelling + summer institute at Oxford!) 🌟
Teaching American West GCSE for the first time next year, has anyone got any recommendations of easy to read books, or documentaries/podcasts? I'm starting with basically no subject knowledge eek!
History teachers: I'm running the History Club for Years 7 and 8 next term. 1x 30min session a week. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could do with the students? Thank you! 🏰📜
First Ofsted: complete ✅ including 2 observations and 2 meetings with inspectors!
Always surrounded by history... instead of the classroom, today it's the Guildhall & Clifford's Tower for free for York Residents' Festival 🏰 @VisitYork
