One of the biggest issues with distance education in Low and Middle Income Countries, can be access to reliable internet. 🖥📱 On CNIS' trip to Nigeria, we made sure to have backup generators and two wifi routers so students can reliably learn online.

On our recent trip to Nigeria 🇳🇬, Dr. Lett and the MADE-I team studied whether or not distance education 📲 can have at least as good an effect on students' teaching as in-person education. Pictured here are midwifery students learning from an in-person and a digital instructor.

At our AGM we will tackle all of the following questions: ➡️What were the highlights of 2021? ➡️Where can I participate in 2022? ➡️Why was digital learning effective? ➡️Who is the Volunteer of the Year? ➡️Who is the African Partner of the Year? See you at 10:30 AM on Zoom!

This morning's AGM will be followed by an open-attendance Board Meeting from 11:15-11:45 AM PST. We will then have our Strategic Planning Session from 11:45-1:00 PM PST to discuss planning for the post-pandemic era.

The CNIS wishes to remind its Members that the Annual General Meeting for 2021 will take place this morning, Friday, November 12th at 10:30-11:15 AM PST over Zoom. See you there!

While Dr. Lett is implementing MADE-I in-person, Isaac, CNIS' Moodle Developer, is uploading courses on Moodle and YouTube so that midwifery students in Nigeria can also receive e-learning. See the list of courses currently offered by CNIS!

Dr. Lett and team members are in Nigeria to implement the MADE-I project to improve the birth standard by teaching and identify the abnormalities in the labor procedure. Maternal mortality in Benue State is one of the highest in the world at 1 death per 100 live births.

Today is #WorldHeartDay. The pandemic has highlighted global inequities in access to care & exacerbated the cardiovascular disease burden. Yet, 6 billion people–not a typo–still lack access to safe, timely, and affordable cardiac surgical care when needed. #GlobalCardiacSurgery

Join us in spreading awareness of #SuicidePreventionDay. To help suicide prevention, please check in on your loved ones, remind them they are NOT a burden, share the things you love about them, & encourage others to do the same. Together, let's #breakthestigma.
