We finally made it to the hotel where the boys had to take advantage of the pool and played a game of dodgeball. #PoolTime #CostaRica2024
We capped off the night by going to Denny’s for our last meal together and had our final prayer service to end a great week. We each shared about all the things that made this trip special and are coming back with happy hearts and great satisfaction. #ThatsAWrap #CostaRica2024
Mr. Dulaney making a fashion statement while lounging by the hotel pool. #HawaiianLifeguard #CostaRica2024
We drove Friday morning to San José and had a great tour led by Señora! We first stopped at the Metropolitan Cathedral of San José. Afterwards the students were able to walk around the main strip and souvenir shop before lunch at Nuestra Tierra. #TouristTime #CostaRica2024
We had our last reflection last night about reflecting on the week as a whole and our guys really gained a lot this week. We talked about the importance of brotherhood & how this community has helped us to continue our mission even when we return home. #AlmostDone #CostaRica2024
Last day of work yesterday was great! We finished our assigned jobs and made extreme progress from what we started with on Monday. We can’t thank Huguito, Pedro, Daniel & Will enough for allowing us to come and have this experience this week. #MuchasGracias #CostaRica2024
After dinner, we had our nightly reflection reflecting on our day and our week. We talked about ways to continue our mission work and being God’s hands and feet even when we return. #GodsHands #CostaRica2024
After having lunch, we came back to the mission and the students were able to play with the daycare children here at the mission. Duck, Duck, Goose got intense! #PatoPatoGanso #CostaRica2024
On our way back to the mission, our bus driver, Carlos, brought us to a church in the small town here where he goes to mass and weekly prayer. The church, La Sagrada Familia, was beautiful. #TourdeCarlos #CostaRica2024
Busy day Wednesday! Señora began the day helping with breakfast cracking eggs. Had a half-day at the work site continuing our jobs from earlier this week and we are making big progress! Concrete team is already onto the next classroom. #HumpDay #CostaRica2024
Tonight’s reflection: Who has inspired us to be the best we can be? How do we see ourselves improving on a personal goal while we’re here? Tonight’s student-chosen scripture focused on what it means to be a guiding light & inspiration for others. #BeTheLight #CostaRica2024
After lunch, we made took a stroll to the nearby supermarket for some ice cream & snacks just before a mid-afternoon storm put the work on hold. Not to worry, the guys are taking advantage of the break and quickly found a way to help pass the time! #FourSquare #CostaRica2024
A special treat for lunch… an authentic Costa Rican rice-stew. Señora took advantage of the chance to watch and learn from the locals on how they used their wooden stove to make the stew! #CocinaDeSenora #CostaRica2024
Mid-day update! This morning we continued with the jobs from yesterday: mixing concrete, putting up more side-paneling, stuccoing, and painting. The concrete team is now onto another classroom after completing the first one! #MakingProgress #CostaRica2024
The group did a little bit of everything: minor electrical work, stucco on the walls, putting up side-panels, painting, and even mixing concrete! They finished the day with nightly prayer reflection on how they experienced God during the day. #BearsAtWork #CostaRica2024
First work day: church building we began last year is almost finished. Our new task is to construct the pastor’s residence and Sunday school classrooms. We were broken up into different work groups for the day. #NextSteps #CostaRica2024
FYI… Backlog of info from the last few days from the Klagetoh trip are on the way tonight. #Klagetoh2024
After walking around San Isidro, the group returned to the mission and had our orientation meeting with the mission director. #MissionPrep #CostaRica2024
Day 2: Mass at Parroquia San Isidro Labrador church led by the Bishop of San Isidro, Juan Miguel Castro Rojas. They met the bishop afterwards and were fortunate enough for him to bless the group and our work this week. #Blessed #CostaRica2024
The Costa Rica crew landed Saturday. They made the 3.5-hour drive from San José and arrived at the mission site in San Isidro De El General later that evening. #EmpanadaLunch #CostaRica2024
