Today, we welcomed 121 new officers, including the 1,000th recruit from our campaign to hire 1000 officers. Thank you to all who helped us reach this milestone. To each new officer, thank you for answering the call to serve. Together we're building a stronger, safer CA for all.

We proudly welcome six new K9 teams to our ranks! Each team has completed rigorous training, building the skills and bond needed to protect and serve CA. These specialized K9 units are a vital part of our mission, enhancing our ability to detect threats and keep the public safe.

Today we celebrate 50 years of women on the CHP. Law enforcement is not a 'male' or 'female' profession, it is a profession of service and sacrifice. The inaugural class served with dedication, laying the groundwork for future generations. We owe them a great debt of gratitude.

Today the Department had the honor of welcoming back hundreds of retired CHP family members for Retiree's Day. This event is an opportunity to reconnect with our colleagues and reminisce about their days of service. Their legacy continues to inspire our work each day.

I'm excited to welcome the newest class of cadets who are beginning their 26-week journey at the CHP Academy. Rigorous training will prepare them to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security. I look forward to swearing them in as officers in March 2025.

An inspiring gathering this week of CHP leadership during the 2024 All Commanders Training Session @CHP_HQ This was an opportunity to unify and empower our Department’s commanders to lead from the front, “Be the Change” and provide CA with the highest level of public service.

We’re continuing to make strides in addressing crime in Oakland. Our commitment remains strong, and we’ll continue to focus on keeping California’s communities safer by maintaining a visible presence, partnering with local law enforcement, and holding criminals accountable.

Before I administered the Oath to our 119 newest officers, I reminded them of the importance of professionalism as they go through their careers, to treat everyone equally with dignity and respect, and what a privilege it is to wear the CHP badge upon your chest. Congratulations!

So proud of CTC II-24 for their dedication and hard work. Just as these cadets have been doing for the past 26 weeks, today they put in the work before the sun came up - heading out for a 5-mile run from the CHP Academy to the California Peace Officers’ Memorial Monument.

It was an honor to join the 1,700 attendees at the Women Leaders in Law Enforcement Training Symposium, the same year that the CHP celebrates 50 years of women on the Department. This year’s theme recognizes the progress that has been made and the trailblazers who paved the way.

I was honored to join @ChpRiverside for the freeway memorial dedication ceremony honoring Officer Andre Moye Jr. This is one of the highest recognitions that the Governor and the State of CA can do for a fallen officer. This sign serves a reminder of the man who Andre was.
