Now the Local Government Finance Settlement has been published, I'm going to write a mega-thread on the status of individual local authorities. 1. Havering Council is "on the brink" of a Section 114. It now receives less than £2 million, down from £70 million in 2010-11.

Silvio Berlusconi has emailed me personally wanting to discuss gold and its ‘significant cultural and symbolic value across societies’. I actually feel it’s as believable that it’s real than that some scammer sat down and made it up 😂

Can anyone recommend training for online/hybrid meetings and events? Would like to cover a broad range ie from formal committees, to training workshops, to facilitating group discussions. There's a lot of training out there but hard to know what would be a good fit

Today I’m standing as an independent local councillor, in a town that hasn’t had a local election for more than 40 years. Can confirm it is even more terrifying than reading newly posted Goodreads reviews.

NEW: people worry when they hear "40% of hospitalisations are fully vaxxed", but this chart shows that's actually good news. The more people you vaccinate, the higher their share of hospitalisations, but the *total* number in hospital is a fraction of what it would otherwise be

Am kind of past the point of describing this country as centralised and ready to call it flat-out paternalistic. Why one tier of govt should have to beg another for permission to do what they feel is necessary to contain a pandemic is beyond me.
