Moving away from a good/bad(evil) paradigm and towards a health/harm paradigm will serve us better. This is certainly true for violence prevention, but I imagine is also true for other aspects of life.
WATCH Rep. Melanie Stansbury issue a fantastic, full-throated repudiation of Trump's mostly unqualified clown car cabinet, and Republicans' attempt at modern day McCarthyism. No, the gentlelady will NOT yield. 🔥🔥🔥
If you are a boy and believe your gender will protect you from the effects of this election think again. In a system meant to benefit you - patriarchy - you still, on average, die sooner than women. Why do you think that is? Very few will benefit from the results of this election
Deregulation. That means that when it all falls apart and your food is full of illegal chemicals, your water is poisoned by companies like Coca-Cola and Exxon, and the air gives you cancer like it does here in Louisiana from the refineries, you will not be able to sue
NEW: Trump plans fast action on a business-friendly agenda of tax cuts, deregulation and expanded energy production, his advisers tell @mikeallen and @JimVandeHei His top ranks will be filled with billionaires, former CEOs, tech leaders and loyalists. trib.al/wzKJ5zI
My condition is on the list. So is my husband’s, my sister’s, my daughter’s, grandchildren’s, & SIL'S. Is yours here? How about someone who you love? Trump’s Project 2025 will deny coverage for these illnesses. 25and.me/?topics=17#17 Good job folks. #DemsUnited
hey so btw the fact that people don’t enjoy working to survive until they die is not a “women hate that we gave them human rights!!!” thing, it’s a “capitalism is making everyone miserable by requiring an ungodly level of productivity in order to afford basic necessities” thing.
Correlates of sexual violence in men. Largest impact: Hostile masculinity and peer pressure/approval. Impersonal sex (sociosexuality) also related, but less so for in-person sexual aggression. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ab…
Saying the quiet part out loud
Oh my gosh. The new mifepristone lawsuit claims that mifepristone is suppressing teen birth rates, which injures plaintiff states by depriving said states of population increases - as if teen girls are inherently meant to serve the state as baby factories.
Unfortunately I have transgendered too close to the sun, people think I'm a cis man, and hooo boy... the shit they say in my presence...
I was told in grad school my interest in those who harm fell outside of the realm of public health. I did not listen. Many fields including public health are necessary to reduce and prevent violence. We need to work together
This is great news and a testament to hard work from @ChantalFahmy, @DrNovisky, and Danielle Wallace! A formal division that acknowledges the intersection of criminology and public health is necessary and will ensure the field remains relevant for public policy moving forward.
3.28 - 3.69% or more of the adult male pop in Mazen raped one woman. Think also of the health risks of repeatedly secretly drugging someone - incl pot. death. None of these men were born predestined to do this. What do you think happened along the way to produce them this way?
80 men, at least, in a town of only 6000. And the horror only multiplies - some of these men are nurses and paramedics, with access to unconscious women. Their professional histories need to be investigated. Every woman in their orbit is a potential victim.
Picture a queue of men six times as long: The photo shows only 15 out of the 90 men accused.
The fact that Dominique Pelicot allegedly found more than 90 men in his local area who were willing to do this is just bleak beyond words. This is the queue for the defendants to be admitted to court:
I keep seeing people say Gus struggles to control his emotions due to neurodivergence and I really want to emphasize that his sincere love for and pride in his father are emotions that don't need to be "controlled."
Coding the cause of injury is vitally important for injury prevention efforts. Authors from @KPWaResearch and colleagues have explored the completeness of external cause-of-injury coding across 10 participating health systems across the USA injuryprevention.bmj.com/content/early/…

Gender is a social construct, getting rid of books about gender won’t change that. This approach will fuel repressive, restrictive and reductionist gender norms and will produce more violence.
DEVELOPING: New College of Florida dumped hundreds of library books this afternoon. The school also emptied the college’s Gender and Diversity Center, tossing hundreds of their books. Working to file a story now.
Labor issues play an important role in patriarchy, men's health and equality
Male loneliness: A major Australian study finds that among men, one factor predicting loneliness is having stronger beliefs that the man, not the woman, should be the breadwinner of the household. For older men, less conservative gender role attitudes can decrease loneliness.
