"I was preparing bread for my children when the ground began to shake violently,” recalls Maryam, a mother of six. "I was seven months pregnant." In October 2023, three earthquakes struck Afghanistan, leaving Maryam and thousands others in despair. ow.ly/oqRr50U4A61

🚨Only 8 out of the 78 world leaders at #COP29Baku are women.🚨 That’s one reason why only 2% of funding for communities affected by the climate crisis is focused on gender equality, despite women being critical agents of change for climate action.  ow.ly/8kT750U69qm

The lack of leaders from developed countries at #COP29 climate action summit, is "deeply concerning... It signals no sense of urgency, a lack of political will, which is critical to deliver on the New Collective Quantified Goal." Marlene Achoki, @CAREClimate global policy lead

#ElectionDay24 is finally here. Our US election has huge consequences for people around the globe. From Nepal to Sudan to Luxembourg, I have heard from @CARE colleagues who are following the race & wish they had the opportunity to #Vote since it will impact them so directly.

Between 2019 and 2022, nearly 40% of countries stalled or even regressed in gender equality. Equality can’t wait. Gender equality is essential to a sustainable, just, and peaceful world. Let’s keep pushing for a future that values and uplifts everyone.

In northwest #Syria, 9 out of 10 children are malnourished. In the northeast access to healthcare is rapidly disappearing. As conflict, economic collapse, and severe underfunding deepen Syria’s humanitarian crisis, families are clinging to life-saving aid. ow.ly/HTbE50TWhYG

In #Mozambique, conflict and water scarcity make getting an education a daily struggle. CARE is working with communities to provide safer water sources, ensuring kids can learn and thrive despite the challenges. Read how we’re supporting students: ow.ly/Wn2p50TVohc

No other organization can provide the same scale of last-resort healthcare, fuel, other life-sustaining aid that @UNRWA manages to bring to millions of Palestinians, especially women and children who are facing into enormous suffering.

CARE (care.org) Reposted

World leaders should stand together against banning @UNRWA in the midst of an unprecedented crisis. It is the largest humanitarian actor in #Gaza. Other organizations rely on its infrastructure and support.
