61-36: The U.S. Senate passes the Respect for Marriage Act, repealing the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act and codifying federal recognition of states’ same-sex and interracial marriages. 12 Republicans joined Democrats in voting “yes.” All the “no” votes were Republican senators.
For the first time in 12 years, Cincinnati will be represented by a Democrat in the next Congress.

Despite losing both the Governor and Senate races in Arizona, the GOP picked up *TWO* critical Congressional seats.
Looks like with the Kevin Kiley call in California’s 3rd Congressional District, the GOP has officially reached 218 seats and will regain control of the US House of Representatives.
Nevada is trending in a positive direction with the election of a GOP Governor and very competitive Federal races. Arizona, however, seems to be trending in the wrong direction—one where if the AZ GOP can’t get it together soon, Arizona will just be an extension of California.
