Although field conditions and weather have been conducive to harvest operations, the warm and dry conditions pose a risk for nitrogen (N) losses if applied in the fall. ag.ndsu.edu/news/newsrelea…

Great participation from SNRS in the Casselton & Carrington Field Days! Dr. Dave Franzen did his last field day and turned the reigns over to @Brady_SoilSci; he is retiring after a fruitful career. You still have time to join us in Langdon! #NDSU #NDSUCAFSNR

It was a great event to attend and learn about the work of other soil scientists across the world!

What a gran finale! It has been a great celebration, thank to those who made it possible: AIM group for managing the event, the IUSS Secretariat, CREA, GREENACCORD Onlus, Radio Vaticana, Giuseppe Milano, and more than 1.500 people who have joined us!

No-tilled corn into our field of camelina today. Very happy with the way it turned out for a cover crop. It's 100% my favorite over rye going into corn. Winter survivability and establishment are still a challenge but they can be overcome.

Thanks @NDsoilhealth! It has been great working with you in the past and I am looking forward to the future!

Congratulations Dr @Brady_SoilSci, now let’s keep brainstorming on how we can jointly influence agriculture locally and globally through research, outreach and being approachable human beings. #soilhealth

Dialing in our nutrient inputs is vitally important as we pursue low-carbon barley. Great work out of @NDSU by @Brady_SoilSci Note, these recommendations focus on delivering high quality barley to maximize profitability, which may not always mean maximizing yield.

Increasing soil organic matter is difficult. How difficult? Here are the numbers: To increase SOM 1%➡️1.1% (=11 tons in top 6"), with 1%/yr loss, requires ~6.7 tons/ac biomass = 223 corn or 239 bu/ac wheat crops. See my calculations, do your own...csanr.wsu.edu/putting-number…
