⭐️ NEW BLOG ⭐️ A new study explored what happens if you combine retrieval practice with elaboration, with some very interesting results! innerdrive.co.uk/blog/retrieval…

Hearing Doug talk about the social science element of participation is so fascinating. A lot goes into if people feel comfortable participating…fear of failure, perfectionism, group dynamics, psychological safety, impostor syndrome etc.

Visualization: The goal in learning environments is to cause desirable difficulty & to connect new ideas to existing knowledge & to build an environment that causes everyone to participate in those thinking processes.

A brilliant article by the very wise @Emma_Turner75 There aren’t enough enough primary voices in the cognitive science space, so the profession needs more of this ⤵️

Primary needs to avoid copying secondary pedagogy and focus on combining the best of cognitive science with knowledge of a child’s age and stage, argues @Emma_Turner75 tes.com/magazine/teach…

When I trained teachers, I wanted all my students to find their own personal style of teaching, but I also wished I had something that would give them a set of basic techniques to get started. In other words, something like @MrZachG's wonderful new book: amzn.to/3ARrzXH

This holds equally true for education, unsurprisingly. Snake oil like learning styles isn’t harmless; it displaces helpful techniques, and replaces them with potentially destructive activities. It’s like inhaling a balloon of helium; you’re still breathing, but it’s not oxygen.…

Pseudoscience is harmful in at least 3 ways. It can: 1. Directly produce harm 2. Indirectly deprive time/resources from supported treatments 3. Erode foundations/trust in scientific professions that promote its use

Jamie’s graphics and concise explanations are so good. This is one of my favourites of his (though the think-pair-share one is unbelievably good too!)

🫵 COLD CALLING EXPLAINED! This A3 poster breaks down the ‘what’, ‘why’, and ‘how’ of the cold calling strategy, ensuring ALL students stay actively engaged in the thinking process. 🫶 Support my work by tapping REPOST and grab a FREE high-quality copy here:…
