One thing that constantly holds me back are the high expectations I set for myself. I need to work on setting lower expectations in order to start stacking wins in my favor.
How To Make Dope Ass Sounds: - Go in with zero expectations - Try out a lot of different effects to see what it does to the sound - Whatever sounds good, resample or save the preset for later use Hope this helps you out, fellow producer.
It sucks being a former people pleaser and learning how to put myself first. Everything feels so foreign to me, but I remind myself that it's okay to take baby steps.
"10 Minute Sprints" have been helping me a lot when it comes to overthinking while creating.
Comparison is a double-edged sword. On one end, it can cut down your ego and leave you with scars full of hate and resentment. While on the other end, it can help sharpen and strengthen the areas that you lack in your work. So which lens do you see it through?
I would say a good goal for you in the studio would be just to have a session where you do nothing but design sounds with your favorite synth. No tutorial involved. I'm sure you'll be blown away by some of the things you can create.
You can’t be afraid of failing. Failure is a BIG part of learning. If you don’t fail, how are you supposed to know what works and what doesn’t work? You have to try out things to find out.
