They could have implemented the law to separate joint consolidation loans back in 2022 when Congress passed & @POTUS signed JCLSA into law 117-200 also, but upholding laws passed by Congress isn’t important to @usedgov Joint loans still don’t have any separation application…

708 days ago President Biden signed PL117-200 into law. For 708 days we’ve continued 2 suffer, waiting 4 @usedgov applications for separation. Depressing and frustrating. Now some servicers like @SLOANSERVICES r refusing 2 renew admin. forbearance. Get the apps out! @SC_DoUsPart

Truly private or the stealth private (FFEL) loans that weren’t described as private until @usedgov introduced the term “privately held” in pandemic pause to define why two federal (FFEL) loans could have identical origins/MPNs but if Ed randomly took possession of the loan they…

Bravo Mike - seeing years of hard work lead to something this big is so satisfying. If you & your colleagues take on @MOHELA next, I’ll be cheering. Their quasi gov role muddies water on purpose. I was told my joint FFEL loan was a federal loan in 2005 marketing materials, I…

I requested my full payment history w/ Master Promissory Note in preparation for implementation of law 117-200, from @MOHELA 4 times over the course of 3 months and it wasn't until my CFPB complaint that they magically found & delivered the missing records. @SC_DoUsPart

@FAFSA Every day you wait to implement the law is another day thousands of JCL Borrowers loans accrue interest. Is the plan to make even more money off us than we’ve already paid by delaying implementation? Over 700 days and counting… accruing interest all this time.

+ they still haven’t implemented the only student loan fix passed by Congress in 2022 signed into law 117-200 by @JoeBiden on 10/11/22. @FAFSA do your job - separate JCLs, and stop enabling domestic abuse.

The federal government has enabled my financial abuse from my former spouse since 2006. They continue to enable this abuse by not implementing the law they passed two years ago. Enough is enough. @SC_DoUsPart @usedgov @RepJoeNeguse

Please hold lawless @usedgov to account & ask them why @FAFSA hasn’t released the application to separate joint spousal loans as required by JCLSA (law 117-200) passed by Congress 2 years ago! @HawleyMO @Eric_Schmitt @SC_DoUsPart

Joint Consolidation borrowers have waited 2 years for @SecCardona to finally implement JCLSA (LAW 117-200) passed by Congress to separate their loans & free them from ex-spouses to pay their own debts. @usedgov is lawless - send help @SC_DoUsPart @AGAndrewBailey @HawleyMO

I was a college student over 20 years ago, and I am still suffering the consequences of a broken student loan system. I am a JCL borrower who has paid $65k when I borrowed $24k. I still owe $50k. @SC_DoUsPart

When I say I’m fighting for public education I mean fighting for: 🍎ALL students to have opportunity to thrive in communities across the country 🍎Borrowers to receive relief from a broken student loan system 🍎 Teachers to receive the respect, relief, and pay they deserve

Joint consolidation loans are the poster child for #1: “the student loan system is broken. It cannot do hard things.” If they knew who borrowed what (lost records including MPNs) & how to separate, wouldn’t they have tried to implement the JCLSA law by now? @SC_DoUsPart

Any chance you investigate @usedgov ignoring laws? Congress passed the JCLSA in 2022. It’s been 668 days since @POTUS signed it into law 117-200, but @SecCardona never implemented. Joint borrowers are still paying on debt that may not belong to the one paying. @SC_DoUsPart

Public Law 117-200 (JCLSA) is also statute and DOE @SecCardona won't let borrowers sign up either. Borrowers who earned PSLF yrs ago still paying. Victims still paying abusers loans. If they get away w/doing this to is, why should other borrowers expect to be treated any better?

Paid 179k on a 45k loan an counting... They said they would implement this 2022 law in late 2024... well here we are? JCLSA is a crime against hard working Americans.

We have families too, Secretary! Would you accept these circumstances if your child was affected by JCLSA? Freeze interest. Enact Law 117-200. @SC_DoUsPart

@SecCardona @usedgov @theSBPC @ndvh @RepEricBurlison @HawleyMO @SenEricSchmitt This is unacceptable. We passed a law in 2022, yet we still cannot separate from those that continue to harm us. Make it right. Implement PL117-200 (JCLSA).

When I make my Ex's monthly payment, & try to stretch the food in my pantry, I wonder who is benefitting? Where is all this money going? It's sick.

I was a teacher for 23 years & left for a less stressful occupation. Will I be penalized for leaving public service when the JCLSA is finally implemented? @usedgov

Being respectful towards your teachers is very demure, very mindful.
