There are many possible reasons why England were so poor today. And they absolutely need discussing. But I can guarantee you that none of those reasons are anything remotely related to “we don’t care about winning”. To say that to any elite sportsperson is insulting and absurd.
England have won the series and literally fought back from being 48 for 4 in their last Test match. I swear it’s the selectivity of this “England don’t care about winning” stuff that kills me. England are infuriatingly inconsistent. Just as many other sides in history have been.
Q to Ben Stokes, "Steve Smith has scored 101 off 190 balls. Isn't that the kind of innings that England are sorely lacking?" We all know what Stokes' answer is. "We don't pay like that" & one day some journo will have the balls to retort "So winning isn't actually your priority?"
Don’t understand the lack of overs from Bashir. Especially in this innings. The bowlers are knackered after so little rest. Get him on at one end and rotate from the other. Otherwise no point in him being there at all.
There doesn’t seem to be any middle ground with this England team. They’re either very good or catastrophically bad. It’s absolutely infuriating. Hats off to NZ though. Bowled very well. Got bounce and movement and then spin.
Stokes is absolutely done against spin. He needs to either bowl regularly again or bat top 3.
That is an absolutely indefensible batting “effort” from England. Infuriating after winning the series so well. Seems as if consistency is impossible from this team.

Absolute horror show this from England. A game losing period of wretchedness.
Plug Dan Houston in when he’s available and that’s a very decent side. Lack of outside speed the real concern.
