This is a very hard thing to write, but my wife Jackie and I wanted you to know that our funny, love-filled, brave, charming, polite, totally unique, and just all-round wonderful eldest son Joe, 19, died yesterday in hospital in Oxford in our arms.
Better awareness and understanding is needed to help people suffering with Functional Neurological Disorder. Together we can be the #Voices4FND
It could be argued that Psychiatry & Neurology go hand in hand. After all, lets take Functional Neurological Disorder to see how much of a historical catastrophe this divide has caused. So many people harmed, dismissed and unbelieved. Left suffering in the divided gap #FND #FNDUK
Psychiatry & Neurology overlap a lot when it comes to differential diagnosis & brain research but very different in clinical work & personality of practitioners. Psych is much more orientrd to people/practitioners more outgoing. Neurology more test oriented/docs compulsive.
*FND Action Quick Poll* Results suggest that more than half the amount of people diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder may be being discharged from Neurology with no treatment plan. This is not acceptable. #FND #action4FND
What is #FND? FND is the most common condition you have probably never heard of. It is the 2nd most frequent reason for a neurology outpatient appointment & more prevalent than MS or PD. Share & RT to help raise awareness Are you #FNDAware? #FNDandUS
Many people diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder are still being discharged from Neurology with merely a website name. The website is very informative, but it is NOT treatment. Plz keep raising awareness of #FND in any way possible. Together we are a stronger voice.
Thanks for involving me in this wonderful study of 1048 people with FND @mattbutlerpsych Just wanted to highlight some amazing figures from the paper made by @OShipston and others. This one (except pain) is a brilliant visualisation of symptoms overlap in FND 1/

If everybody looked the same, we'd get tired looking at each other 👀 #GrooveArmada
The public can be assured that Scotland is always well prepared for these types of outbreak and will remain vigilant. We have a proven track record of dealing with challenging health issues and have established public health and infectious disease experts working round the clock.
